Do you have any pics? Is the piece easy to remove? I've got a can of Plastidip sitting around doing nothing after I did my grill.

If you are out of warranty and you are a devout DIYer then by all means sand an paint away.
Personally, I would spend $63.00 to replace the fronts with new ones that won't scratch and spend my time doing something else.

What you can do is take everything off and sand off the rubber texture and then paint it. That is what i did.

My steering wheel also looks like this. Is that covered under warranty?

the door piece is very easy to remove with just a screwdriver with cloth over it...start prying it up from the back forwards...it just snaps out easily

and yeah its covered under warranty...but most if not all 07s are no longer covered

has anyone in the chicagoland area had theirs replaced under warranty? I called the Orland park store and they said no way, I was thinking about taking it to the dealer downtown chicago. Was wondering if anyone locally around here has had any success in doing this?

$63.00, in my post above, is a link. That's for both. If you call one of the sponsoring dealerships we have here on G35Driver, you might even get them for less.

*** that's cheap...almost easier than messing with scheduling an appointment and sitting/waiting or dropping the car off
