The texture would probably stand out too much.

I already bought 2 cans of plastidip on my lunch break today at work. I will try it. It it looks bad i will just sand it off, paint it with some BMP and clear it with a gravity paint gun.

Unless you paint it pink, it can't look any worse than the 4 year old factory crap

BMP btw is Black Magic Pearl-LC9Z VW paint code. Its a really cool looking black that they use on the R32's exterior.

I used a jelly like paint remover and it worked good. Ended up working too good because i didnt wipe it off fast enough and it started eating into the plastic but I fixed it. after removing the bubbling paint I sanded it with an orbital (250 grit). I sanded it all the way down to the bare black plastic. Most guys on here that i have seen only sand to the creamy primer. After that I did 4 HEAVY coats of plasti-dip.

End result. Looks great IMO. Looks like the factory crap that was on here earlier.

Quick pic of some other work I did...let me know if you can see what is different!!

Enjoy

In ours cars its not something I could recommend tackling on your own. There are too many curves to not make a mistake. I have done headliners on 350z's and 240's with no problems since they are flat and simple, talking a G I would not do personally. The pillars on our cars are a different story though.

that sucks. There are two nice upholstery places in my town. Fairly priced as well.
