Low humming / 'wurring' noise from front wheels
Just started within the last week and has gotten progressively worse and rather quickly too. I'm thinking that its a wheel bearing on one of the front two wheels though I can't determine which one by listening.
Some info:
-2008 G35x 38k original tires and brakes (afaik)
-Brake light comes on under moderate-high acceleration (I know i've searched and its either low fluid or worn out pads, just haven't gotten around to replacing)
-12 months 22k remaining on bumper-bumper
-Noise changes relative to vehicle speed
Could this noise/vibration be a result of worn pads or rotors? If its a wheel bearing would it be covered under warranty? Nearest Infiniti dealer is 2.5 hours away and I work M-F so I'd like as much info as possible before I contact them and try to take a day off work to get this fixed.
Thanks for any help.

I had to deal with it for months. The sound is at it's worst when you are coming to a stop. If that isn't the case for you.. then it may not be feathering tires. I hated to change my tires out because it they had so much tread left but I am very, very happy I did.

The nearest dealer (des moines, iowa) offers to come pick your car up and leave you with a loaner when you get service there... and this applies to anywhere in the STATE of Iowa. Then they bring it back when its done. Seems crazy to me to offer this but the only thing I'd dislike is someone else driving my car for 320 miles round-trip. I guess I have no choice as I can't take off work to spend a day (or more) at the dealer.
Another note, doesn't this seem low mileage (38k) for bearing replacement???
Thanks.

Wheel bearings and brakes are usually more of a scraping/screeching sound due to metal on metal.
If it's a front wheel bearing it will be louder when you are turning. Louder turning left = right bearing and louder turning right = left bearing.
As you know, top up your brake fluid, but your brake pads are definitely worn and most likely the rears more than the fronts. My rears went first on mine. A lot do with the stability control applying the brakes for us.
If you still have the Goodyear Eagle RS-A tires, they tend to get much louder as they wear down. I had an X too.

Cool thread. I just got the same whirring/humming noise in the last few weeks too since installing my Hotchkis sways. I notice it the most between 40-60 and it's only related to vehicle speed, and it's the worst on very smooth pavement where there's not a lot of 'normal' road noise. I already had one wheel bearing replaced in March when I bought the car, but I'm not hearing a "whumpa whumpa" or anything like that, and it doesn't seem louder when turning (but it didn't back then either), and it doesn't pull to one side or the other. I know my front brakes are nearly gone (getting replaced this weekend) and my tires are feathered (trying to get a few more months out of them), but now I'm wondering if the other wheel bearing might be going out.

My situation sucks. I swerved to avoid a softball sized rock in the road but ended up running it over and instantly the front tire started to vibrate. The vibration was more noticeable between 40-60mph, but has increasingly gotten worse. The shop I brought it to said it's the wheel bearing so hopefully I'll be getting it replaced this weekend.
