^ Actually the R2C dont mess with the AFR enough to cause any loss and actually does offer gains much like Stillen 3G but R2C has a better mid range while 3G has a bit better high range.

worth is different for every person. for me, yes it is worth the 110. to you, it may not be.
So with a proper tune, would u expect the r2c to be "dumb" in the low rpm range still? My k&n and exhaust made my car "retarded" at all rpms. The tune cured all that and more but..... I bet I could get more out of a better Intake setup.
of course, tune can cure all these problems!
though, it seems like I don't need tune, as I have rather nice throttle sensitivity and overall performance (i have Borla cat-back, Berk's HFC, HPS tubes).

without a tune I bet you are running lean you really don't want detonation if you want the engine to last!
