^ he already tried it and it didnt help. Its common rock chips from daily driving and quite normal on newer cars with water based paints and thinner clears. Only solution like many said is to repaint and apply a clear bra.

My bumper is similar to yours... I have the same Platinum Ice colour on an X and it has the same scars and rock chips as your pics. I just live with it, and if anyone points it out I'll just say that they're battle scars from speeding. Same goes for the small rock chips on my windshield... and small rock dents on the right side of my car... only 73000 km here.

Yeah, clay bar was done and it didn't help. It did a fantastic job on my paint though My bumber can only be fixed with a repaint or Bra

I got the same damage on my 07 and it is black obsidian so all of the marks stand out much more. In the end, its inevitable and since this is my daily driver i just pretend its not all banged up. Now if it was on my weekend car, different story.
As for those $99 deals, dont waste your money. Try to find a local guy that works with vinyl and see if he has a matching silver cover. May cost around the same as a repaint, but will deffinitely last longer.

i would imagine you could get the matching spray coat from autozone/pepboys if you wanted. it won't be ideal, and may look slightly off, but it will still be better than alot of chips.

Just wondering here if clear plastidip would turn out okay as a cheap substitute for a clearbra. It seems like the matte look might be okay on a bumper.

Come to think of it, plastidip seemed to fill in the dings on my grille when I did that... I wonder if the clear stuff would help fill in the chips on a silver bumper?

The only way I would try it, is if...
1.) my bumper looked so hideous it wouldn't matter
2.) If it didn't work, I was planning on repainting my bumper or getting a bra anyways.

3.) Getting somebody else to try it first and it worked well for them( AHEM)

where did you get it repainted??? i need to do mine after the winter and then invest in a clear bra...

just walk farther back from your vehicle, rock chips are less obvious.

I wouldnt try to put a bra on the car - they're not meant for everyday use and will trap dirt and debris causing even more scratches.

A Vinyl wrap wont even match and will look out of place IMO

Getting a cheap Macco paint job might sound like a good idea but make sure they can blend the paint.

I'd take it to a few places and get some quotes - then get some quotes if you took the bumper off and brought it in separately. Shouldnt be more than 300 with the bumper on the car and if you can take the bumper off you'll save them time and labor in doing that work - which means less cost to you.

^ he's referring to a clear bra which is expensive so might not be worth it IMHO

I am a fan of the Clear Bra as well. I bought my wife's car new and now almost 5 years later and 47k on the odometer the front end still looks new. I was told there is a max life of the Clear Bra and then it will need to be taken off just due to the clear fading, etc. If that happens on my car's I will replace it immediately.
