That's too much. If you want the stock 35 sport brakes, you can probably find a set for really cheap. Just post a WTB ad, and I'm sure someone who's done the conversion will get them to you cheap.

Search on myg37 in the vendor section for CZP, and ask Coz for a quote if you want the akebonos.

 

Alright to be clear I will state it again these are coming from a 08 g35S.... Not the akebono's......So will they fit, should I buy them, and will it make a difference in terms of stopping power on my X???

 

Yes, they'll fit. You won't have to get new wheels. It won't make a noticeable difference in everyday driving, but the extra thermal capacity may at the limits. There's someone selling theirs very inexpensively in the FS section, for that price you really have nothing to lose!

Or, you could just get more aggressive pads, good fluids and SS lines. Those will likely give you a more noticeable improvement in feel and performance.

 

Yup, when I buy the rotors I might buy better pad and rotors if they need them and change my fluid! SS lines dont know if its worth the extra $200.....

 

Mike, isn't the piston on the sport brake system larger than on the journey/basic g35? If it is (IIRC it is), it should help with stopping shouldn't it?

 

Correct you are!

The front Sport calipers has one large piston while the Journey has two smaller pistons. Although, personally, i don't think it makes a big difference.

 

Yep, it's a single 2-1/4" piston, as opposed to the dual 1-3/4" pistons on the regular brakes. And of course, the other benefits are the larger rotor diameter and thickness when compared to the regulars

Just for the calipers? No rotoers? calipers + rotors for that 1200 would be better.

^ r u kidding me? i have been wanting a set since last spring! the only thing that is stopping at this point is the fact that i am running oem 17s during the winter.

so the plan is next spring, when i get my new summer wheels, my current 19s TSWs will be my winter setup and then i can permanently install the BBK!
