S brakes on a X?

I was wondering will I notice any benefits on installing S brakes? Caliper, rotor, and pads. Also will it clear my 17" stock wheels? I am really impressed with the stock X brakes so if these are better and clear the 17" with out spacers than I will move forward with this mod!

Will you be tracking the car, or is this mainly for street use? Im thinking steel braided lines, motul and some good pads would do some good, rather than swapping calipers between models.

well the S model has 13" rotors on the front (back is same). However since the S model has 18" wheels, I'm guessing they may not clear the 17" rims. I think stock non S fronts are 12.6". If they do clear, it sounds like a good cheap upgrade - the sell on here for a pittance really, compared to going 14" akebonos.

The guy I bought my car from had a 17" winter wheel setup so I think it would just come down to the offset. Stock S 18's are 45mm in front and 50mm in the rear.

I can tell you that 17' will not clear. 1 gen or 2nd gen will not clear. Spare tire will not clear as well. 18' G37 sport spare tire will fit. 18' of all kind should fit over the Akebonos. How i know this? I did a test fit on them all before i bought them. Hope this helps

^ These guys are referring to the sport brakes off a G35... not G37 Akebono sport brakes. Did you try 17's on G35 sport brakes b/c I'm pretty sure they clear. The guy who I bought my car from had to sell his 17" winter wheels b/c they would not clear his G37 brakes... needed 18's

I don't think i missed the point. He wants to know if the Sport brakes will clear the 17'. No they won't is what i am saying. If your talking about the BBK, he is going to need 18' wheels no matter what.

^ dont think its BBK they're talking about. They're talking about the brakes that comes with G35S (The factory NON-Akebono or any BBK style). And I have no clue if they'll clear 17s....

Well, if it is the Akebono which is the BBK, it will not fit on the 17's. that is what i am saying. I thought all sport comes w/ 18's w/ akebonos.

If you are talking about the Infiniti Akebono BBK, 17" stock wheels will not fit over them. My stock 18" sport wheels only clear them by about 1/4" on the o/s and 1/2" on the inside of wheel. 17's would be rubbing the calipers.

For daily driving, I don't feel any difference in the BBK I have now compared to the stock brakes I had on my 07x. Like someone mentioned, it's when you track it that it will make a difference. ...and they look a lot nicer.

Only G37S models come with the Akebonos. G35S models came with "sport" brakes, which were larger in size than the regular G35 or Journey model brakes.

Whether or not they'll clear is unknown, I have yet to read of a G35 non sport model installing the G35S sport brakes. It's an easy upgrade, as you can probably find a set of used sport brakes cheap, but clearing your wheel is another story.
