I think part of the confusion is coming from the fact that the OP did not specify which year of sport brakes he wants to install on his car. If it's the '07or '08 sport brakes, then they're the 13" rotor setup, if he wants the 09+ sport brakes, then they're the 14" Akebono BBK setup. He never said which he meant.

On a side note, and regardless of whether you can mount them or you've got wheels to clear them, in regards to the Akebobo BBK, is it safe for the AWD system to add that much rotational mass to the front axles ?

^Rotational mass difference comes from the rotor alone and is small my friend. My only valuable input here is that my '07 G35S comes with a 17" spare (gloss black and resembles an aftermarket wheel pattern, kinda cool for a 185/80/17 or whatever the heck it is). Never tried but I'd be surprised if it didn't fit the front (you'd never want to put a spare on a drive wheel, and I doubt the offset is much irregular).

Well yeah, there's that, AND the added mass of the heavier wheel/tire combo that fits over it. I'm not saying it should matter, just raising the question as to how the AWD system will handle it in the long run. IDK if they are sensitive to that or not, or if perhaps they're sensitive to a disparity between the front and rear axles.

07-08 G35 Sport sedan brakes are what he is talking about and they will fit with 17's because they are the same as the standard brakes on the g37 sedan.

HE IS NOT TALKING ABOUT THE AKEBONO'S GUYS...

The 07-08 Sport pkg brakes are still larger rotors than the standard brakes. Fronts 13" compared to 12.6". Rears 13" compared to 12.1".
The standard brakes on the G37 sedan are still 12.6" and 12.1"

...something the OP should have been more clear about from the start. Thanks for clearing it up. How are you sure, did you ask the OP?

Why doesn't the OP just ask the ral question here.... will the factory 17" wheels from an 07X fit over the brakes of an 07 Sport?

Whether or not they'll clear is unknown, I have yet to read of a G35 non sport model installing the G35S sport brakes. It's an easy upgrade, as you can probably find a set of used sport brakes cheap, but clearing your wheel is another story.
The 1st person to do this was B L U E S L A T E! He was the 1st person to put the Akebonos on his G35. I don't know who was next after him but i now have them on my G35 Journey. They fit but you need 18' to clear them.

That's common knowledge, but it seems as though the op was talking about the g35 sport brakes and not the akebonos

I think we established the conclusion that we arent talking about akebonos on the first page of this thread...... And yea, Akebono is the sport brakes from G37S but on G35S its bigger, but factory looking brakes.
