Don't forget a diminution in value claim

Hopefully you are not hurt. Don't forget that your damages not only include repairing your G and having a loaner car paid for during repair, but most people don't realize they are entitled to make a claims for diminution in value if the damage was extensive. You can get an appraiser to write you a report concluding what the value of the car was before the accident and what it is worth post repair. Think of it this way, two identical G's, one never damaged and one repaired for significant damage. Which would you rather have? That's diminution in value. You can actually sue for this damage in most States and win. Even if you don't sell your car, you lost that value due to the accident.

I looked at the photo - that's a pretty serious hit. Really hope you are OK. This definitely could be a diminution claim.

I agree. I've also had an attorney say to ask for a 'loss of resale claim' before on my ex's car which is about 1k away from being totaled (we didn't want it back after a GIANT suv rear ended it going over 50. The adjusters really seem to hate that lol. Yeah I agree it will be harder to sell with that kind of hit to it, no matter how well it's repaired.

A guy who's knows the owner of the shop I am going to said the insurance company of the guy who hit me never give them any grief. They apparently do a good enough job to satisfy even the ocd guys in our local club, so I'm less worried now.

I just got into one last week. The car is at the shop now. They quoted me 920 and change. They basically gave me a new bumper shell and paint. I pointed out to the guy that the faring under the bumper was cracked and so wasn't the bumper.

The car has been in for three days so we will see what the final cost is!

Insurance isn't being too shady luckily. It's at 8,800 and climbing! they forgot to include some major stuff according to my shop (H&R Auto Body, Leander, TX) so I'm sure this will be around 10 grand when all said and done! The insurance co is so funny, they just mailed me a check with no paperwork or anything, they didn't even put the leanholder on it lol.

Some light chiropractic work I'm doing now and I'll be good as new. Its weird (or not really) about 3 days after my back started hurting. Luckily I found a non-shady chiropractor that isn't gonna drag it on forever and not go for the money grab.

I thought about looking into an aftermarket bumper, but IMO I went through the body compilation thread, and I didn't like any of them, so I think I'll just put it all back together the way it was.

That's close to what I told you. I'm sure you will have a complete new back end except maybe the rear quarter panels.
