Breaks Squealing (Clip Included)

Hi All

The Acura Dealer I purchased my car from in early October has replaced all 4 rotors and Brakes before they put my X on sale (Paper work and receipts to prove).

Looking at the part numbers listed on the invoice, looks like they may have put on cheap NAPA pads on all 4 corners.

The first month of driving was fine, but the past week or so a horrible squealing has started up from the front left wheel.

Video:

It seems to make noise after they heat up a bit. When the brakes are cold, squealing is almost non existent.

I know cheaper pads sometimes squeal to some extent, but this sounds like a subway train coming round a corner lol..

I already hit it with compressed air and brake cleaner (With wheel still on)

What should my next step be?

- Hit the brakes with high pressure water to be sure any debris is cleaned out
- Take it to my mechanic to have a look?
- By a set of Hawk Pads for the Front (even though these pads are new but cheap)

thanks

Sounds like the pad shim plates just needs to brake pad quieter sprayed on them. Also are they Semi-metalic pads??

I would say to hell with it and get new Hawk Ceramic pads. If they are freebies, you know they didn't put on quality pads. Braking probably isn't even as good as stock, never mind the noise. Brake pad change is pretty easy to do on your own. Get some brake grease to lube up the contact points on the ends and just swap in the new pads.

I'd agree with lubing them and see if it goes away

I have the same issue regardless of the temperature of the brakes... and I just re-surfaced the rotors at a shop and put oem brake pads. I suggest trying the tasks you listed first and see if the issue persists if so then call up the dealer and ask them over the phone if you get an answer that is a little off... keep calling and speak to a different advisor. Best bet it's the inexpensive brake pads.

Thanks all!

I looked at my left front rotor today and noticed that there is a new mark on my rotor that I never saw before. Looks like something from the pad is starting to cut into it. Looks like one of the clips from the new pads may not be set correctly and is cutting into the rotor.

Gonna hit up my mechanic firs thing in the morning before it gets any worse!

That's crazy! . . . and definitely worthy of returning to the dealership you purchased it from for a (implied) warranty claim. If they have a shred of integrity they should make good on a faulty installation on your brakes. I wouldn't pay a dime for anyone to touch it before you try getting them to fix it for free.

I hear ya, but the dealership is in another state and quite a number of miles and Tolls $$$ away.

I rather take it to my local shop and he will fix it up for $20 bux. I would spend much more in tolls and gas otherwise.

I'll be heading over in a bit.

All Fixed

The Clips on both front brakes were a tad too long so he had to trim both of them a bit. Now I have silent braking

Best part he didn't charge me a dime so I have the mechanic who worked on my car a very healthy tip.

Cheers
