Infiniti Customer Service was GREAT!

So I bought my 07 G35x a couple of months ago, and it was just out of bumper-to-bumper warranty. It suffered from the steering wheel and door trim peeling. I took the car to a relatively new Infiniti dealer down the road from me to get the AT fluid flushed and my 2 serpentine belts replaced, to inspect a TPMS malfunction, and to see about getting the new brake TSB resloved.

Although they said I need new front brakes so they couldn't do the TSB, saying any judder I experienced was just a wear issue (I don't really even have the symptoms but was going for new *free* brakes So I lost there. Also turns out I have 2 broken TPMS sensors, don't know how that happened when the previous owner had new tires installed.

BUT, after clearing it with the regional manager, the dealer is giving me a new steering wheel and new front door pull trim. They also have me a new G37x to drive for a week, and that's been really nice! Just a tad bit quicker and a bit smoother being brand new.

So far I've been REALLY impressed by Infiniti customer service. I even got calls from their consumer affairs folks to make sure I was being treated well and everything was ok.

VERY glad I bought Infiniti!

^ glad you enjoyed your experience, as it turns out about 80% of the ppl here were able to get the door pulls and steering trim covers replaced even after warranty so it leads me to think that there was/is an unpublished bulletin by corporate allowing dealerships to change them since it was a bad part in the 07s

Yea do you think its only for the 07 models? I have an 08 and way out of warranty but the steering wheel and door panels have chips and wondering if they can be replaced even though im close to 90k miles.

I have a 08 and the dealer just replaced the pull and the steering wheel. According to the service manager he said Infiniti lets them replace the steering wheel once for this issue. I am in warranty, but the fact that its pretty exact on how many times they will do it might say something?

They also replaced the passenger side interior door panel, but that was more to get rid of a rattle that wouldn't go away (it worked, rattle gone).

Infiniti knew this was an issue, they started making different pieces for the door panel and steering wheel towards the end of the year of 08 so most 08's and all 07's will have this issue and should always be replaced by the dealership.

I wish i was as lucky as you. My local Infiniti dealership has refused to replace my peeling trim while I was in bumper to bumper warranty. I've called the 800# for consumer affairs and have been hung up on and have been told trim is not covered under warranty. Glad to see some of the guys are getting them replaced.

Mine is an 07 and this is the 2nd G35 i've owned. I'll never own a Nissan product again.

I wonder if they would've replaced that stuff if I didn't have them do the tranny flush and belts too? My guess is that it wouldn't have been as easy. They also matched the prices my local Nissan dealer quoted me, which was possibly the biggest surprise, especially b/c the Infiniti prices were nearly twice what the Nissan dealer quoted. I also took the approach of promising return business if I was happy with my experience. Also received two calls from consumer affairs to ensure everything was going well.

I gotta say, I'm going to definitely own another Infiniti at this rate! Love the car and the company at this point, knock knock.

Yep this is my first Infiniti. My grandpa still has a J30 with only like 30k mi. on it and its literally showroom condition, and I convinced my good friend to buy an '03 G35 6MT sedan shortly after they came out becuase I wanted one so bad and I got to drive it a lot. So I'm pretty familiar with the brand and quality, etc. eventhough this is personally my first one.

It took me a while to finally get my hands on a G. After my buddy got his sedan I couldn't very well get the same car as him, so when I was ready to buy a car I got an RX8. I had it for 3-4 years, and really loved that car, I had full suspension, I/E and custom audio and hated to sell it, but boy am I glad it worked out the finally be sitting in a G!

Just an update, I got my local dealer to replace the steering wheel, the door trim and the hood of the cluster under warranty on a '08

if you have excessive wear on those items and still under factory warranty, definitely take the car to a dealer and have them replaced
