The climate control is driving me crazy!

I know, I know, I came from a prior car with a manual climate control. But, is there any way to turn on the air recirculate setting without the AC coming on?

In fact, that's something I'm noticing in general. If I turn off the AC and do any sort of adjustment, it seems like the system always want to turn AC back on again.

2008 G35x

I love the car...just a minor nit.

Don't worry, my car does that too. They don't make cars like they use to back in the day when you can do this.

OMG yes me too! i hate that! i always want to turn on the heat and keep air circulation off and turns on the AC , i always have to press the A/c button to close it and then it goes to circulation. really irritating. Then i have to deal with it and end up smelling fumes from the outside.

I thought there was something you can do if you hold the circulate button for a few seconds and it blinks to help with any of the problems described above

Here is an old thread discussing the same thing.

Tip:
If you would like the feeling of cool fresh air circulating through the cabin...Tilt the sunroof open and 'crack' the right rear window open about 1/4" to 1/2". Trust me it feels great, summer and fall. Turn your HVAC right off.

I'll give the button hold a shot. Just to eliminate any confusion, I was talking about not wanting fresh (outside) air. The use case was the family traveling near a bunch of refineries and we didn't want to smell that rotten egg smell but we wanted the cabin air to be moving.

I tried holding the recirculate button for a few seconds and it flashed 3 times and i thought to myself maybe it reset something. so i tried it again, but it still turns on the AC. Does anyone know what pressing that button will do?

From the sticky on things you may not know about your G.

Not sure if anyone mentioned this, but there's a way to get "fresh air" without having the A/C or the fan on (i.e. letting fresh air enter without the fan running). To do so:

1) Press OFF to shut off the fan
2) Press MODE to select how you want the fresh air distributed
3) Use Temp. dial to set the temperature

You will notice the on-screen display will NOT show the "fan" meter icon and the A/C will not turn on.
