Angry G35xs 2008 electrical and transmssion issues

Hi

We bought a 2008 G35XS a few months ago. When car was under guarantee we had problems with the console board, mostly when raining (!?!?)
A/C would not turn on/off, couldn't control temperature, fan would not go down or high. Automatic seat would not move either (controls situated in the door)
That could last a few minutes before working again.
Dealer said that mechanic found nothing and car worked perfectly.
Haven't experienced it for a few weeks then this morning (raining again) got same problems. Ideas of what could be the problem?

Anyone driving a g35x sport??
When on manual mode, transmission would give a hit between second and third speed.
Dealer said it is because car is protecting itself when not heated enough, but does that almost everytime, no matter the revolution and time we've been driving.. anyone experienced that?

I had a similar issue and it turned out to be a leaking windshield. It turns out the nissan dealer or whomever put it in the nissan auction replace the windshield and didn't properly seal it along the bottom. When I went to mr. car wash, I had water dumped on my feet, and my dash went nuts! I used canned air and blew it out asap, but it fried my clutch switch, which prevented starting the car. Yeah and I had to pay, since it was not their fault it happened.

You might try to take off the trim along the bottom of the windshield and run a garden hose there to see if you can find a leak. Yours is probably smaller. If you don't have an oem windshield they probably won't cover troubleshooting it or fixing it

I have a 6mt so can't help you with the tranny stuff.

xS driver here and I have noticed the hard shift you described. I rarely use manual mode, so it really hasn't been an issue for me, but it is definitely there. I don't think it has anything to do with the tranny temp either.

I have an 07 G35x and I have noticed it can shift hard when its cold out and the car is not warmed up, I have heard of this before as well.

Do you notice a lot of condensation on the inside of you car? That could indicate its a leak. Maybe take a video of stuff not working next time so you can show the dealer.

The harsh 2-3 shift is said to be normal. I honestly wish all the shifts were that firm. My other car with an auto tranny and a shift kit feels a lot sportier when going through the gears.

It seems to be more than just a harsh shift. It's almost like a clunk... Like a bad u-joint or something.

Correct. Mine will clunk under load from 2-3, and will feel plain firm during cruising.

I'm scheduled to drop off the S this Friday to have them check out the shifting issue and also to check my seat heaters. Will keep you posted on the findings.

The dealers have to do an update to your system. I had this problem when i bought my G long time ago. Everything would freeze up and i couldnt do anything. Took it to the dealers and they just update the system

I have had the same issue for the longest with the shifting... 2nd-3rd it does exactly as described. I addressed it to the dealer a few times and they obciously could not find anything wrong.

Dropped off the S and the Service Manager's initial thoughts is what you mentioned bluedevils...a software update, but we will see. It's definitely not normal. The loaner vehicle they gave me is a G25 and it doesn't have that "thud" going from 2nd to 3rd in manual shift mode. Same with the seat heaters...the 25 gets hot fairly fast compared to my S.

Not sure if any of you have driven a G25, but it is pretty guttless. Have to make sure I don't try to pull out in heavy traffic and expect to move anywhere fast.

The software update is for the electrical not trans. From 2-3 in sport 3rd gear is slamming in like someone is throwing a cinder block at my transmission

Well the Service Manager seems to think a software update will repair it. He mentioned they had done the same to another vehicle earlier this week. I don't care as long as they fix it and I don't have to pay for it.

Service Manager just called. Apparently, that "thud" is "normal" for the S and he said it happens from 3rd to 4th as well. Seats are good also according to him. Normally I would be a little suspicious as to his answers, but these guys have been awesome since I purchased this car. Replaced the dash, shift ****, door bezel under warranty and without question, so I don't think they are trying to screw me. Looks like I will just have to live with the crappy seat heaters until I sell the car and stay away from manual mode.
