I "Nailed" My Steering Wheel :)

So Since my Local dealer and even Infiniti Customer care denied to replace my steering wheel due to being out of Warranty, I decided to take things into my own hands, Literally

Here it is BEFORE

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

And here is it AFTER

Tools Needed:

Let your nails grow out a bit (As I did)
Paper Towel
Rubbing Alcohol
Vacuum and Compressed Air to clean up all the little black paint ***** after

In a nutshell, since the black paint on my steering wheel trim was so soft I just started scraping back and forth slowly with my nails. I left some black on the lower buttons for now, but I may just take it all off. Not sure how I like my current "design"

Thoughts?

***Video Tutorial Will be up shortly****

Thanks All!

Forgot to mention that the compressed air and vaccum are for the cleanup afterwards. You get these little black paint ***** everywhere! The compressed air helps get them out of the steering wheel controls better.

On the the Video!

Oh and Be careful, if you scrape too hard you can actually begin to remove the Gray paint!!

I can live with it for now, this will hold me over till warmer weather when i will actually remove my wheel and wrap the trim piece with vinyl

Better than before for sure!! I really doubt that piece it really expensive! Maybe in the future you could take it off and just paint it to match! Kinda like bluedevil69 did!

This is what i did to mine. just so you can see. If you want a closer pix just let me know and i will do that. But these are the only 2 i have.

What i did is i sanded the whole thing down using 320 grit. Then took it to my paint guy and just color match it to my car.

that's what I did to mine to get them to replace it. Sure it was scratched, but to leave no doubt in their mind, on my way to the dealer I help remove some paint with my fingernails. Was it a gamble? Sure! But i had/have plenty warranty on my car so I wasn't worried + since they had already replaced my door panel pull, and cluster guage trim, I said what the heck, lets go for the steering wheel.

Oh they're lots of folks on here with scratched steering wheel that i'm sure would be willing to get that if they're willing to do the removal and installation work. $290 for a $1200 part = STEAL

Awesome clean wheel, but I prefer to keep my original wheel and just fix up the trim
