Rear end mounting bolt sheered off have issues with parts!

Hey guys,

I have a 2007 g35 sedan. Car was hit in passenger side quarter panel and we had to replace some suspension components as well as the rear diff cover. After driving the car for 2 months and putting a thousand or so miles on it the rear bolt that goes through the sub frame and into the diff covered sheered off! Thus letting my rear end drop a few inches. I limped home going about 15 miles an hour.

The shop is telling me that it looks like the previous body shop must have not tighten the bolt to spec and it wobbled around enough to break the bolt. Because of this I need another new rear diff cover, bolt, nut and it looks like because of the diff falling the bushing that goes between the drive shaft and the rear diff has many cracks in it.

The problem I am running into is infiniti is telling the body shop this is not a part they sell! My friend who works at the mechanic shop says this might be a part that is attached to the drive shaft and this if we want to replace it we will need to get an entire new driveshaft which seems insane to me!

Any idea on what part this is, name for it or part number? My local dealership is very lazy and I do not doubt if they overlooked something.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Steve

I don't understand why you are touching this! You should be taking it back to the body shop or the insurance company and screaming about the shoddy work that was performed on the car. There MUST have been some kind of warranty on their work.

I wish it was that easy. Car was fixed without insurance by a friends of mine body shop who did most of the suspension labor for free for me. I knot you get what you pay for and besides mentioning it to him I am not going to bring it back.

At this point it is just a matter of moving forward and trying to get it repaired.

I'm fairly sure you can get the parts you need, have you tried another dealership? I've had many an experience of one dealership saying "no" where another dealership says "here you go."

Check this page out to see if it has the parts you need.

Other options would be to check out the junkyards or even swapping out for a pumpkin from another vehicle.
