Looking at '07 G35x or '04 FX35 for wife, few questions
Hi,
we're looking at buying a '07 G35X for my wife. The car has 88k miles and has had two owners. There are no apparent problems, but I am going to be getting the service records from the infiniti dealer to see what all has been done and what has gone wrong.
The dealer is asking $16,000, but I'm confident I can get it for probably $15,000 out the door. Does that seem like an appropriate price with the miles? What known problems should I be looking for?
We've also been considering an 04 FX35 with similar miles for a similar price. Any thoughts on which would be the more reliable/less problematic of the two?
We're both incredibly excited about owning an Infiniti, but I'm honestly quite intimidated to switch from a late 90's subaru that I can do all of my own work on to one of these.
Thanks in advance for any insights.

Expect the 07 G to be more refined than the 04 FX35 as that car was the big 'turnaround' for Infiniti and displayed their new designed and technology standards.
The 04 FX is a very nice ute, but it is a bit dated now and came out with the 03-04 G and basically saved the company.
Both are fairly easy cars to DIY so i would not worry about that at all. These arent BMWs or Mercedes and share a lot of components with regular old Nissans.
My vote is the 07 G just because it is much newer and a lot more refined.

I gotta agree with Janik here! I would go with the 07 G35x because of the new interior and its a newer car! Keep in mind too ÿôū could make a 07 looks exactly like a 2012 G37 with just some bumper swaps, and other little parts here and there!! But if you really really want more space I guessing go with the FX35! Kinda outdated in the interior! But nice car! I wouldn't mind one either! But the new ones!

Agree that you can get it for Around $15k , i bought mine in september for $16k, it was an 08 with 87kmiles and only one PA owner (clearly highway miles) also had lots of nicks on front bumper which told me it was def. highway miles. Yea, i really didnt mind because i was planning on doing the 2012 conversion anyway. I def. suggest you get the G over the Fx due to better quality interior and stylish exterior. If you need space, i think the Fx is a little bigger in the rear seats but not that much of a difference.

We used to own an 05 FX35. Never had any issues with it aside from wheel bearings (which were done under warranty). The trunk wasn't as big or as useful as we would have liked due to the shape of the rear hatch glass. Lots of room inside and very comfortable on long rides. Great in the snow with the right tires. Wife loved the higher seating position.
We now own an 07 G35 S. Interior is much nicer, but also tighter/cozier. A few trim issues were also fixed (steering wheel peeling, door handles easily scuffed). Trunk is actually worse due to the placement of the CD changer. The obvious...faster, handles better (touch tricky in the snow due to it's lack of AWD but traction control steps in early) but you're looking at an X so you should be fine.
Fuel economy is about the same probably due to the fact that I drive the the G harder. Do I regret going to the G? No, I love driving it way too much. The FX was nice and comfortable and it if wasn't for the accident we'd probably still have it. But the G let's me cruise in style AND let's me have fun when it's time to put my foot down.
