2007 G35 Sport AFS not working

I have a 2007 G35 Sport with Adaptive Headlights, aka AFS, they do not work. They don't turn in either direction, at stop in park, or in motion. No error codes, any idea how to diagnose this problem or where to even start? Where does the AFS get its read out for the steering wheel being turned? which module controls it?

It's pretty complicated; too much so to try and do justice in a posting. I'd suggest downloading the FSM ( which can be done for free) and looking it up under the EXL section, page 19. Basically, there's a control module for it that taps into the CAN communication bus to read all necessary sensor values and then it controls/monitors the motors which actually move the headlights. The manual can be downloaded at Infinitihelp.com for free once you register there. G/L

Dumb question, but you didn't turn the AFS off via the button to the lower left of the steering wheel by mistake did you? Check it out.

Turning AFS off would illuminate a dash light. So AFS worked and just stopped one day, or has it not worked since the car was purchased?

Alright, strangely enough I disconnected the battery, and afterwards they are back to working. In a few days I'm going to hook up a Nissan Consult and login to the module, see if theres any error codes.

and lol, yes I know how the AFS switch works.

Won't the codes have been cleared?

No most modules in modern cars retain memory.

That being said, there was no fault codes. Very strange problem.

Ehh . . . I think depends on the module and the type of fault being recorded. AFAIK, non-critical faults are often volatile.

I was wondering if anybody has tried installing the system into a non-AFS equipped vehicle?

Anything is possible with enough money, but the parts alone will probably cost a grand or two, totally not worth it for what it does.

I have it and it's nice to have, but no way worth the money to retrofit it.

Tech package requires both, premium and navi packages.

+1 For my purposes, just seemed like a quick waste of $2000+.
