Saying goodby to this forum

Sadly, I won't be frequenting this forum too much any more.
I sold my G35 this week.

It's been a great car no real problems in the 5 years that I owned it. A pleasure to drive and spend my 2 hours a day commuting. The cost of gas was just killing me, about $70/week.
I also figured at 70K miles I could still get a good price before I'd have to start doing major work.

I'd like to thank everyone's for their advice over the years.

Wow man, Sad to you see you go dude. I agree with on the gas price it really does hurt you pocket when you have to refill at the gas station, specially with the gas price increase. Since you sold your G35, what car are you planning to purchase in the near future?

After owning mine for only 5 months I am contemplating the same thing. I love my car, but have already put on almost 13,000 miles. I commute the same daily and put on about 3,000/month. My company pays the fuel, but still concerned over the miles. Only issue is I am not sure what good it would be to sell since almost every car I look at to replace it with is still in the mid teens. Doesn't seem to make any sense to down grade and save 5-7k.

Good luck.

wow!! 3,000/monthly!! Sounds crazy!! I was commuting about 1,500/monthly! But recently I've been taking my girl's Malibu! I thought about downgrading before to save on my payments and insurance but I just can't let go of my G! I am gonna be on these forums for a long time!

What are you planning on getting Bruuster?

I drive 5K a month traveling with work.

Probably not the best car, but I enjoy it.

Sure do hate how uncomfortable the seats are....when I get some time I need to look into getting some Journey seats or having them modified.

Talking Changing cars and other answers to your questions

I'll try to answer everyone's questions.

I sold my G35 private party. I was surprised that it took awhile to sell.
Since September 2011.

At that time I went to Carmax to get some idea what they would pay. They offered me $17k. I said no way as they had similar cars on their lot for $22K and $23K. That's quite a mark up for a car that needs no reconditioning. So I thought I could get about $20k private party.

What I found was no one had the cash. Got a lot of low ball offers and people asking if I would take payments. So when I finally sold last week I got $18k at 70k miles on the car. Better than Carmax because now, 4 months later, they offered only $15K.

Now I don't want any flack from you guys about my new car. Yes I know it is not the 300 HP I sold. Or have the luxury I enjoyed. Or even the great stereo. But I ordered the new 2012 Subaru Impreza Limited hatchback. At least I get paddle shifters, AWD, and HD radio. 27mpg city and 36 hwy.

Not bad! I went from an Impreza WRX Wagon to the G35x. I drive 37 miles to work, and I must tell you, I LOVE every minute of the 50 minute drive. Yes, I put 1.3K miles a month, yes, gas is expensive, and I put premium, but, I think, it is all worth it. Considering that these are entry-level luxury cars, the cost of gas should be relatively minimal.

I considered selling the car due to the drive and gas costs, but the thought crossed my mind if only for a brief minute. I also considered buying a second car to beat around, and looked at a G20. Nice silver on black, but, if I was to spend most of the time behind the wheel, I may as well spend it in my G. Passed on it.

What I did do instead is got the extended Elite warranty, since I'll be driving my G for the next few years, and, to offset the miles, I drive my wife's Camry 2-3x a week, heheee
