removing undercarriage tray.

Been scraping it nonstop. Any negatives of having it removed? If i'm scraping and bottoming out like crazy i highly doubt that it matters having one.

It's definitely there for a reason. Besides overall aerodynamics (drag co-efficient), I would expect it will also have an impact on airflow through the radiator and overall engine compartment cooling efficiency in general. On some cars, it even effects cooling for the brakes.

It really helps keeping debris out of your engine.

But if you have been bottoming out I guess it is much safer removing it rather than it gets torn while your driving and ends up in the wrong location which could destroy your engine like belts and wires...

I'm debating it because it's a real nuisance at times. I just moved into a new neighborhood and i scrape all the way down the road to my house.

Stiffen up your coilovers, that should help. How low are you?

Also, make sure its attached all the way and not hanging down any.

It's not that ride that's bouncy. The tray just sags a lot and won't bolt up anymore

I am this low?

I can't believe you drive around that low, my car isn't near that low and scrapes a lot.

I'm not entirely familiar with the gen 2 undertrays, but on first gen undertray, you were able to remove that like 1" plastic lip thing that hangs down (what is actually scraping), by removing 12 or so screws. this way, you won't scrape as much, and you can keep your undertray to keep dirt and debris away from more important parts.

p.s. I'm lower than you on a coupe and the above, for me, worked perfectly.

However, I could be all wrong with the gen 2 undertray.

edit: uggh. I missed the one sentence that said the tray won't bolt up anymore. Have you tried using large(r) washers to hold it up? I had to grab larger ones cause a piece of a tire ripped one of the holes through. Otherwise, I know lots of members who run without the tray. Your undercarriage will get dirty, but no real problems come up. I have heard of one or two small problems coming up, but very very rare.

if it sags, why not remove it or replace it. My middle undercarriage covers are the ones that scrap for me.

I wouldn't because of bad weather conditions like rain and driving into a big puddle of water.
As mentioned, object flying into the engine components etc. Replace it

That happened to me too...I had it replaced for $150 including parts and labor with the OEM part directly from Infiniti. It's just unscrewing it and screwing it back on. It takes only 10 minutes to do so.

It's worth to replace it because you don't want road debris to hit your critical components under the car.
