Question Advice on buying a 2008 G35XS

Hey guys, new guy here.

After lurking and hunting for a few months, I have come across a 2008 G35Xs, Slate Blue, 47k on it. 2 owners, clean title, new kuhmo tires $19900. And a $4500 trade on a 100k mile 12 year old Grand Cherokee. Not too shabby! The only thing is on the carfax report it has an animal strike. I went and drove it, and it seemed really tight, (don't have a ton of things to compare it against). the front looked really good, the hood looks like it might be HALF a millimeter separated further than any other G35 I've looked at.

The other thing is the hood liner is kinda beat up, one of the mounting points is no longer attached, and its a bit dusty, few small tears.. is this something i should worry about? I am going to take it to get looked at by a professional tomorrow. Any advice and opinions would be most appreciated. thanks!

Price seems pretty good, have them switch out the hood liner and I say go for it. Unless your mechanic says there is something wrong with it....

I think it's pretty safe to say that no one on this forum will be able to tell you whether the impact with the animal (probably a deer you would think...) is going to cause ongoing problems. Only someone who works in the body shop industry would be able to answer questions about that specific vehicle, and then only after actually seeing the car in person. But, one thing I would look at is how long ago did the accident happen? If it occurred 5-10-15 thousand miles ago, then you could probably be safe in assuming that there is no lingering affects of the accident left in the car......

Good luck. These cars are fun. And it sounds as if you can get decent deal on one. Not a steal by any means, but definitely about average. I just bought my 08x with 39K for 21,900, which wasn't a steal either.....but was by far, cheaper than most listed X's in a 50 mile radius of me.

I personally would stay away from it... because you don't know if the accident was big or small and at times service pro's may miss something IMO. It never hurts to wait in the car business and another one of my recommendations is to go with an 09 G37 which is more refined and I haven't seen prices that are much higher then what you posted. Either way best of luck on the purchase.
