tire suggestions? Need replacements soon
How is the performance? I know they are considered a "Grand Touring" tires vs a "High Performance" tire, but I am curious as to how much of a trade off there is/if it is even noticeable on the street. I am due for a set of tires and am considering getting "Grand Touring" tires with the hope that they won't completely suck in snow but still handle well.
I wish I can tell you how the handle in Snow. I'm in Texas We Got Ice... they are Great some people are complaining that after 50,000 miles they can get noisy. by that time i will be replacing my wheels again. Also I just noticed that Nitto Got a Brand new Tire on the market with 100,000 mile warranty and will handle great
+1 on continental dws. Great in the rain, pretty good when dry, and great for an all season in the snow (not applicable for you). They will last for tons of miles and have a great warranty. tire rack has some reviews if you want more info.
Forgot to say, discount tire & Ebay are giving back $100.00 Rebate Visa Card when you buy 4 tires online. so you can search the tires you want and take the ebay listing and quote and ask Discount Tires if they can match the same offer. They did it for me. Good Luck. also you have the 30 day warranty if you are not happy with the tires bring them back and they will swap them for you.
To the original poster.... avoid Firestone Firehawk Wide Oval Indy 500, which is what I got after the yokohama s-drive at the recommendation of tirerack. They're summer tires but they feel more like boring all-season tires, and several of them have high road force measurements (and feel wobbly).
Just pulled the trigger on YK580's with the Discount tire/ebay promo, but didn't have the DWS in 225/50/18 in stock otherwise I would've jumped on those instead. Hoping the yoko's will be good~~
Michelin Pilot Super Sports.
I'm getting a set for my summer trip to the Nurburgring.
If you don't need super duper street grip, conti DW (not DWS) should be good enough and have a high tread wear rating...But, for the price of the DW, might as well look at the PSS.

If anyone is currently looking for tires, check at your dealer. Dealers in the CT area seem to have a pretty good special on tires right now (buy 3 get 4th free). Got quoted $750 for 4 new tires completely installed, with alignment. Cheapest other place I could find were Mavis or Costco for around $700 no alignment. Tires were Goodyear eagle GTs, decent reviews, was considering DWS but didn't feel like paying up.
Currently running Continental All season eco plus on my G35xS. Got me through winter and good on dry roads. But not too sticky in the corners. I want to put summer tires but current's ones have no issues. Good thread life and warranty!
