Warranty question for a new owner

I just got my g35xs w/ 31 or 33k on it and I am wondering how the warranty works. I know I have 8 months left on the first part of it. I don't really know how the warranty works as this is my first car with one; coming from a 95 camaro. Does infiniti just recognize the warranty if I pull into the dealership or do I need to transfer something? I read a post that you can possibly get the dealer to replace the shifter ***, any tips for getting this done? Any other thing I should have them check for? Last question, I am in downtown atlanta and am wondering if there is a preferred Infiniti dealership around atl. Thanks for all the help so far. This car is a blast to drive.

They should be able to pull up the warranty from the VIN# and you may want to go sooner than you think because it starts from the day the car was built so if it was built early in the year, your warranty might already be up. If it is CPO, then you are set till 100k miles, or 6 years. I just had my steering wheel changed out under warranty because of paint chipping, so you might want to look into that one.

yeah i read some where on here before i bought the car to check the how much time is left under the bumper to bumper warranty, its 8 months. I will def look into it and see what they can replace. The nav screen seems to have a haze or something on the screen, maybe from cleaning chemicals or something. I am going to try and get them to do soemthing about that. thanks for the tip!

Nope, I think you are mistaken about that. The factory warranty begins from the "in service date", which is the date the car was first sold and put into service. If you buy a dealer's demo car that has been on the floor for 8 months before it is finally sold, your warranty begins the day you drive it away.

^^^What he said is fact. You can call any dealer and ask them to run your VIN and let you know when your warranty expires. Your registration should also show "first sold date" and you can use that date to determine when you warranty ends.

The 'in service date' is also noted on any Infiniti dealership service invoice.

What made you believe that? BTW, it's wrong, VQ's post is correct.

If that was the case, no one would buy a car sitting on a lot for a year lol
