Moving from NYC to NoCal
Moving from NYC to NoCal
So after many months of hypotheticals and what ifs, the wife and I have decided on finally making to move out to NoCal (Bay Area). We've both lived in NYC our whole lives, but we're tired of the constant rush to go nowhere and want to live in a place that's much more laid back. Neither of us has a job in Cali yet, but we've got enough to hold us down for at least 6-7 months before going broke and living with the OWS people lol
We're leaving on our week long road trip next month and I was wondering if I should have anything done to my car (service wise) before I leave. It's got about 56,000 miles on it and I recently got the tires rotated and balanced, tranny flushed, rear brakes/rotors replaced. I'm guessing all I really have to do is oil change before leaving and after arriving.
Any thoughts?
Thanks!
PS: I'll put up a road trip map as soon as I figure out how to do it.

I would just check tire pressure and change the oil since you already did the brakes and other maint. items. Along with filling the washer fluid and checking the air filters. Find a driving buddy. I love to find someone who is willing to run at the same speeds as me. As long as they keep their distance. last time I did it on a road trip the other car fliped and crashed hard. You can check out my thread on the road trip if you like.

Thanks for the tip! I've never driven a car this far or long before, so it's gonna be tough. I just hope nothing goes wrong mechanically on the way there. One of my friends said he'll come along, but he doesn't have a car, so that counts him out. I need all the room in the car I can get.
Couldn't figure out how to make the pic bigger, but you get the idea. Any waypoint ideas for this route? Except no Vegas cause I'd go broke and have to come back to NYC lol

Drive safe, and welcome to the Bay Area =) I hope you both enjoy it here.
Also, there are a lot of tech jobs out here in the silicon valley for start-up businesses. All you it takes is a little searching.

Looks like a nice road trip. I'm assuming you wanted to see New Orleans pretty badly, since that adds an extra 600 miles or so to your trip. You might also want to check your cooling system; maybe do a drain and change before you leave. Good luck to you and safe trip.

I'm hoping to get a job at a tech company! I'm in Finance so, hopefully they need help with their finances somehow
New Orleans is WAY out of the way, but I figure we might as well stop and see some of the places we've always wanted to visit since we don't know when we'd ever get to road trip again.
Stops:
B) ATL
C) New Orleans
D) Dallas
E) Roswell
F) Albuquerque (pretty much just to sleep)
G) Grand Canyon
H) L.A.
I) New Home
With all the stops, it's gonna be a longggggggg trip.. about 6 days 5 nights. We could've made it much much sooner, but we wanted it to be enjoyable instead of: drive, drive, drive, red bull, drive, drive, drive, 5hr energy, etc.
Also, I plan on stopping at a "Man v Food" restaurant at just about every location. So, hopefully I don't have a heart attack on the way there lol.
A meet would be awesome since I can get to know people in the area, but keep in mind, my car is pretty much stock and in serious need of a clay & wax lol
