First time to the 1/4 with my G35X.

Last Sunday I decided to take my 08' to Greatlakes Dragaway and see what I could do on the quarter mile. Mind you that the track is initially kinda slick since I just rained earlier that night. Temps were in the upper 40's, third day that track was open for the season.

1st run got a 14.5 with a 2.2 60' with the tires pretty much spinning from first through first and second gear with the VDC off. Brake torqued and launched at 2500 rpms.
2nd run got a 14.6, feathered the launched, brake torqued and launched at 1500 rpms, 2.18 60' wheels spin a little bit.

Now this is where it gets interesting,

3rd run I decided to do a quick dry burnout just to remove any debris that was stuck to the tires. I did the quick burnout, but all of a sudden car decided to jolt to a stop. Didn't bother me to much when it happend. But when I decided to launch again at 1500 rpms but launch a bit harder than the last, the car launch then stopped, I let off the gas, then press the gas again, and it didn't again, let off the gas again, then just feathered off again then stompped on the gas pedal then that's when it finally took off. But all that time I probably wasted almost three seconds finding out my car decided to buck like bronco at a rodeo show. And when I got my time slip, did a horrible 60' at 2.7 with a quarter mile time of 16.8.

4th run I decided to do the same launch I did on the 3rd run but this time to see if my car would do it again. And again it did it, but not as bad, only once this time I pulled a 15.8. Still horrible to my standards.

5th run, I decided to turn back on the VDC to see if that was causing my car to buck. Well this time it didn't do it and got decent 14.3 with a 2.187 60'. And I launched at 2K while feathering the launch.

Finally the 6th run I was like did I figure why my car was doing what it was doing during my 3rd and 4th run. So I was like lets see if my car does it when I launch harder with the VDC off. Well unfortunantly launched my car at 2k again put mashed the gas, and my car decided to buck again. Slow down to a stop then take off. This time I got a 15.8 in the quarter mile.

Car is pretty much stock other than Eibach lowering springs. Tires are just a set of Goodyear Eagles GT's with about a season left on them. Car was full weight, no weight reduction whatsoever, with about just over a 1/4 gas left. Ran the quarter in DS mode.

But anyone with a X had this problem before when you would launch? Is there something I'm doing wrong or missing something I'm suppose to do, leave the VDC on, or is there some magical TCS button I'm suppose to press that I'm missing? Let me know so I can resolve this issue.

I did use googe search and the search button, but didn't find that answer anywhere, I even checked the owners manual.

Sorry if this felt to long, I just felt I needed to be descriptive as much as possible to see where I might be going wrong.

Maybe doing a burnout tricked the VDC. Shouldnt be able to do a burnout with an AWD.

Wow! A good way to learn about your car. Looks like a lot of fun you were having.

maybe the VDC sensor is/has gone bad since ur supposed to do burnouts with the X, with the X all you really need to do is to floor the pedal without any brake torque and the car takes care of the rest and you should be able to get low 14s easy.

fyi: u can have your X be a RWD only when wanting do such stunts by following the AWD->RWD DIY in the DIY section

Have you tried launching with the Snow Mode on? Is it faster?

I'm still trying to figure out how he could do a burnout in a G35X.

I know mine couldn't break loose in a straight line, unless it was February in 3" of snow.

I'm not saying you didn't but that if you did then something maybe wrong.

Ive never been able to get mine to do a burn out either. I really don't want to now since I have new tires now lol.

When you say it cuts out and comes to a stop, does it resemble what the car does when it detects tire spin and the "slip" light shows up on the gauge cluster?

I had my best results with tcs off and just mashing the gas... But I was also getting tire spin.

I've never done a burn out in awd mode but my junk tires would not get grip ever. New tires and in rwd tcs off I don't spin...

Anyways I've never had the car fall on its face before. Would like to know what happened
