think dealer screwed me on a flush...

OK so this has to do with what happened to my car 3 weeks ago... basically the dealer stated it was overfilled and from high spirited driving the excess came out of the blow vent on top of the tranny..

I told those idiots since they screwed up, I want a free flush done, not a drain and fill. The service rep said it would be, and was done.

I checked the receipt, and it stated a flush was done with 5 matic S fluids. I checked the dipstick, and it doesn't look different from before the flush.

My question is, what color is the matic S fluid? And since it was a flush, there should not be any old fluids left over to contaminate the new fluids, so shouldn't the color be brand new???? I'm thinking these idiots lied and did a drain and fill.

5 Quarts is a drain and fill. ATF is Bright Red but I have had difficulty getting red colored fluid from the dipstick. When I got a small sample to test it was red.

Like he ^^ said, 5 quarts is just a pan drain and refill. The system holds much more than that (more like 11 or 12 quarts). Perhaps a sample could be sent to Blackstone for analysis to determine whether the current fluid is a healthy, viable 'solution'. They are relatively inexpensive, and it might be the only way to get some peace of mind about it. As to who should or will pay for that, I have a guess.

Only place in town? I'd change dealerships, give business to someone who cares about your car, not just $$

I don't think you're correct, as a trans flush is a recommended procedure at 60K miles.

I thought that philosophy was dependent on whether or not regular changes had been done. For instance, if you did the drain and refill at 30k and 60k, and then at 90k wanted a complete flush, you're probably ok. But, if you went to 90k without any service at all, then they would only recommend a drain and refill instead of a complete purge.

Flush v. drain and refill

Infiniti's maintenance schedule lists a transmission fluid flush as optional so any claim that Infiniti says this should not be done is wrong. The premium schedule is a drain/re-fill at 30k or optional flush. The regular schedules don't have a specific mileage recommendations for drain/re-fill or flush, but to inspect and presumably change as needed.

A complete flush takes between 12-16 quarts fluid, depending on how certain you want to be of complete replacement.

Mechanics, dealers and otherwise, interchangeably use "Flush" and "Drain and re-fill" and obviously they are not the same service. As expensive as Matic S is, the fluid cost alone is substantially more with the flush and that's probably why the dealer lied, or, they don't have a flush machine.

very nice find saywat, i had read this too a long time back but just could not find it again... imo at 60k its better to just do ~5qt(measure drained fluid for exact) drain and fill and then do it again after ~3k miles to allow new fluid to blend in with old when first and then freshen up the fluid some more with fresh 5qts

the new recommendation was brought to nissans attention later after nissan wrote the maintenance schedule. im sure flushes were done in the past but now no longer necessary or recommended by nissan. btw the service bulletin was written in 07
