Good find, I stand corrected

However, when the dealer does it, do they use an "aftermarket" machine or an "approved Nissan/Infiniti" machine (if such an animal exists)?

That's what I was thinking too. I know there are different types of machines used to do a "flush", and I'm sure some dealers have aftermarket ones (much like the optional aftermarket fuel system cleanings) but I don't know if there are any that are made by Nissan. I had one service writer mention that they could open the trans line to the radiator and drain out fluid while they added it back through the dipstick tube. He couldn't explain to me how they kept up with the correct volumes though, so I never perused it further. Needless to say, this bulletin seems to have more to do with Nissan's regard of aftermarket devices than with actual known inherent problems within their own transmissions and fluid replacement per se. I believe there is a distinction there worth noting.

^if nissan made their own im sure it wouldve read something like "only do flushes at official nissan dealerships cus we have the only certified machines" or something like that as they should have all required nissan tools to do all servicing. however in the first sentence it states " aftermarket flush systems have become a popluplar service offering and profit center for many dealerships and independent service shops".

thats enough for me not to even risk it and jus do the drains and fill

I get you point, and it seems reasonable, but (and this is not just to be argumentative) I still see it as a condemnation of the tools used, not the fact of having complete fluid replacement performed (by whatever means). Does that make sense?

^i guess we will never know lol. only nissan knows exactly how and wat improvements they made to their trans that no longer require flushes (as theyve stated). or it could be a matter of nissan covering their asses due to some sensitivity in the trans they build and we kno all too well nissan doesnt like to admit faults

Being that the stealerships don't give a damn about caring for cars, and they just wanna sell u one, from now on in doing my own maintenance...

I take it saving receipts from parts and fluids I buy will not void my warranty just cause it was not done in a stealership?

Absolutely correct. Just do that and jot down the date and mileage when you did it, and you're good as gold.
