Hi,

I own a 2008 Infiniti G35X Sedan (the one with the G37 body) and I recently ran over a pothole which immediately resulted in a flat tire. When I did get the time to examine the tire, I realized that there was a crack on the rim. I called Infiniti and they said the rim itself would cost me about $700. Throw in atleast 2 tires (as mine is an all wheel drive) and the bill shoots up to almost $1200-1300 with labor, tires, rim etc. Obviously this is really expensive and i'm looking for cheaper alternatives. One option that i'm considering is buying maybe 1 rim off eBay or something and getting it fixed by a mechanic. I talked to a couple of tire shops and they seemed to want the car with them to even give me an estimate. For some reason it's not very easy to find out what wheels/rims go on this particular model. My question is

1> Is there a way I can look at the exact rim details and then do my own shopping on eBay/craigslist for the car that I have?
2> Is that a good/advisable option?

I have even gone to a Goodyear and they say that they can fix my rim for about $390 but i'm guessing they would just call the junkyard and get a part that's lying around for cheap. I'm guessing that should be the last option that I should look at.

Any suggestions/advice?

I would suggest going to a Discount Tire Co. if there is one near you. They will be able to check the wheel you have. The offset is on the back side of the rim as well as the dimensions. i.e. 18x8.5.

They have am OE wheel warehouse that they keep takeoff wheels from customers who did wheel upgrades. They might be able to find you one in their system.


Junk yards and craigslist are options once you know what the rim dimensions are and offset.

I wouldnt pay $700 for a new wheel from infiniti...

You can get a whole set of G37X stock wheels on the marketplace here or on myg37.com for about $500, probably have some tires on them too
If not put "OEM Infiniti G37X wheels" on google and you should find places that have them for about $200 each.

 

I agree with the above. $700 would buy you an entire set of used OE rims but I think you are better off just getting one. If the old tire is still good, just mount it to the replacement rim.

 

I third what blnewt said. Get a whole set of OEM or better yet get a whole set of OEM or after market 18's. Keep searching and please avoid paying $700+ for one wheel.

Silly you, go to a local tire shop or something. Order the rim online. G35driver/g35nyc/myg37 or ebay/craigslist.
