help! code p0447

Hi everyone,

need some help with the code (p0447) I just discovered yesterday at a local oil change. The "service engine soon" light popped up on my 07 g35x a couple days ago, still seems to be running fine. I know this is related to the EVAP emissions vent control but has anyone experienced anything with this code? Any quick fixes?
Upon reading various forums, I read that my gas cap could be faulty, also could be the control itself, or the pipes may have a small hole. I retighted my gas cap and checked for holes, but the light still on. Or is there a certain distance I need to drive to get rid of the engine light? I also read that the light may go away after refilling my tank a couple times, however just worried it may be a bigger problem.

Any feedback would be great.

Thanks!

chances are the vent control valve has stopped working. carbon and moisture build up causes the solenoid (plunger) to stop working. if so you want to make sure you get the updated model. 14935-jf00a is the updated style. probably gonna cost around $120 for the part

mileage on the car? also if you filled the car up just prior to this happening it might of been just a loose gas cap or some dirt in it, remove the gas cap and clean around the area and inside the gas cap itself

Thanks for the input. I have about 62000 miles on it. Thanks Ketchup I will do that right away. However, do you know how long it would take for the light to go off if it were the problem?

I went to check the car again at a friend's shop. After removing the cover to reveal the EVAP box, the sensor was just dangling there and not connected to anything. Is this enough to set off the engine light? My buddy also said if its just the EVAP box, then I shouldn't have to worry about it because we don't get checked on emissions here in Winnipeg. But I'm curious if this will affect the performance or damage anything else in the long run?

Thanks again.
