Wheel bearings and warranty

I have an 07 g35x with an eibach lowering kit and my front wheel bearing is failing.

I called Infiniti and they said it is covered, however will the spring kit void my warranty?

Yes, and you'll have to revert back to stock. It depends on the dealership, but the lowering kit can place more stress on the bearings causing it to fail.

I would suggest putting it back to stock then getting it replaced. You don't want a dealership putting a note in your account that you modded your car so anything else that could fail won't be covered under warranty.

I think putting it back to stock is more trouble than it's worth. I would consider buying the bearing/hub assembly and getting a mechanic to install it.

Unless you do the work yourself! I really don't know how much is bearing/hub assembly cost, but if it was over $300 I would probably put the car back to stock for them to replace it! But If it was under $100, I would buy it and install it myself! Really simple job!

Just saw a few on Ebay! They cheap! It would be more expensive paying to put it back to stock and then lowering again, Than just buying the bearing and paying someone to do it! Unless you do the work!

if youre not willing to go back to stock to be certain to get this repaired under warranty then just take the car as-is to the dealership first and see how it pans out and they might just fix it no questions asked, if they dont then just get it done yourself, btw there is a detailed DIY on here.

I called around and found many places selling the whole hub assembly for around $200.

(of course Infiniti was around $400...)

Rather than switching the springs twice and getting another alignment again I think I'll just buy the part and do it myself. I've read a couple tutorials and it doesn't seem that bad.

Wish me luck!

well if youre fine with doing it yourself then why not just gamble and take it in first and see if the dealer does it and save you a few hundred dollars, if they say no then you can do it yourself, you have nothing to lose

^ ah that sucks i wasnt aware that they already said no, in that case diy and let us know how it turns out, if you replace the entire assembly then its not hard but quite time consuming going by experience with other cars. good luck!!

Worked out great I installed a new Timken bearing.

Feels like a brand new car.

So you were able to reuse your existing hub then? Was there any trouble finding the right bearing for it? (hint: a part number would be great to share. )

^ i thought he was replacing the entire hub assembly with the bearing, if he changed just the bearings then he must have access to a press to install them.
