first oil change

first oil change

doing my first oil change since buying it 2nd hand, 2007 g35x. it says to get 5w30 on the cap but a lot of people from what I have been reading uses like 0w30 or something, it is better? I am going full Synthetic for sure but which brand? castrol? mobile 1? royal purple? thanks!

Many discussions over this. expect a multitude of answers.

My best answer...change it regularly and youlle be ok. And apprantly people are not liking Mobile 1.

My first was Nextgen recycled oil...seems fine. Exhaust sounds different.

ok thanks. should the filter be the same brand as the oil? or does it not really matter?

Uhm...huh? Did you pour oil in your exhaust or something?

OP, if you want to see how an oil is performing, Blackstone Labs will test a small vial of it after you run it through your motor. Personally, I use Valvoline, and sometimes Castrol. No issues here.

yea i've used the lab and honestly anything from shell, chevron, to even royal purple all the same minearls, only diff is the additive formula, but at 3750 miles it says that i can still go on i went to 5k and its still fine so its all you to you man

^ ... i agree that as long as the change interval is maintained then any brand name oil and filter is fine

In a roundabout way...we all put oil in our exhaust. Very little.... non-the-less.

I have straight pipes after my resonators, so I had a very distinct sound.
After the oil change, it sounded different.
Maybe the oil change affected my V-tech or my muffler bearings.
