my opinion: it's really as simple as it sounds, better airflow equals less filtration, better filtration equals less airflow -- but, the discrepancies are minor. personally i stick with the stock infiniti/nissan air filter.

here's a link to another thread here covering this topic: link

i believe there's recommendations in that same link on where to buy, but you could google to find the best price once you decide what to get. can't recall where i ordered mine from, nissan parts or something (it wasn't the dealer).

Agree 100%, OEM filters FTW.
I just use an air jet nozzle on my air compressor to clean the filters w/ every oil change and I rarely buy new filters, the OEM filters are pretty tough.

I just put the K&N 33-2399's in mine this past weekend. I can't speak to these yet since I just put them in but if they are like the rest of the K & N filters I've had, then they'll be worth it for savings and hopefully a few extra miles here & there. I am always cautious not to over oil them and haven't ever had any problems with maf sensors or anything so far.

I just use genuine OEM or WIX (also = Napa Gold).

I just replaced mine with OEM filter about about 750 miles ago.

I just figure the benefit (any min. hp gain, mpg(?) gain) does not worth the oil/re-oil/excessive oil of it.

i plan on using OEM filter unless i got aftermarket intake.

Bought a set from ebay. @$40 it was worth a try. No noticable difference.
They look like they have less surface area than OEM. Hmmmm.

They dont fit as well as OEM and get stuck coming out.

yes to oem, and yes they are pretty tough, for a few "blow outs" on these cars i think you could prolly change em blindfolded its so easy...

K&N is always the way to go!!! Apparently you've never seen a side by side air flow test between oem &the k&n.... sorry, but if you think cleaning it is hard...then your super lazy and should trade in for an escort!!!

Well, actually I have, and after doing so I came to the conclusion that any added airflow is NOT worth allowing all that extra dirt into my engine.

There's no free lunch, you get freer flow, but sacrifice better filtration, OR you sacrifice some airflow, but get better filtration. For what it's worth, I wouldn't even let all that extra dirt into the engine of my escort, that is to say, if I even had an escort.
