Transmission Failure @ 83,000 miles

So I was driving home from a Nissan Dealer (looking at a GTR) and white on the highway my check engine light comes one. The car starts to shift weird, and I notice the car will not go into 5th gear.

I get home and run the codes

P1757

On another thread it says that the valve body is the issue, I take it to the dealer to diagnose, and what do you know, blown transmission (highway miles, not very rough on the pedal, etc) ...

I ask the dealer can it be the valve body?? they replied maybe, but that usually will still fail, I really need a transmission, at the cost of 8300 dollars.

Of course that wont do, I ask for goodwill, and with Nissan and the dealer kicking in some funds, it is going to cost me under $3K.

But I am wondering if anyone else had heard of this, and the long term results of their repair.

Damn, that's a bummer. At least $3k is easier to swallow than $8k and you know you'll have zero miles on your new unit. Kinda tough to use it as a trade in toward that GTR w/ no tranny

My 2002 Altima had issue and the engine needed to be replaced.. Nissan didnt cover it, I love 1600 diagnosing the car, and took a bath selling the car, only to have Nissan come out and offer free engines to all customers with my problem....

But they didnt even offer to give me back the diagnostics money since I sold the car...

^+1, i feel for you but i would first try and see if replacing the valve body does the trick given that your research showed that the code you pulled turned out to be a bad VB for other inifniti/nissan owners listening to your issues it seems like it to me BUT if its not then you can just get the replacement tranny anyways if its the solenoids or something more serious.

obviously this isn't a pandemic with the G35 like it was with the older acura tl's (i had 3 transmissions put in my 2002 S-type) but it still bothers me to hear about failures at such an early mileage. i'm about to roll over 100k myself and i'm going to have to keep this car for a while. fingers crossed for your situation.

If I did the valve body now, and needed the transmission, I dont think they would have given me the good will later...

If the dealer had not offered to do the transmission for under 3K I would have done the valve body..

Well the transmission is ready, the A7 fell through, turns out the car had a lot of road rash on the wheels and a few scratches (one of which would need to go to the body shop) .. I didnt want a new car with paint work done.... I will just wait for another deal to come by.
