Does the AT upshift automatically once it reaches redline?
Does the AT upshift automatically once it reaches redline?
I was just wondering does anyone know if the Automatic upshifts for you once you reach the redline (7500 RPM) in Manual mode? I never really tried it myself (don't want to risk wear or damaging the engine) so I was just wondering if anybody has experimented to find out...
Thanks.
Thanks.
I know that, but I was just wondering if it cuts the throttle or automatically upshifts for you like the new Kias I believe even in manual mode.
If you WOT to redline you'll reach the "soft limiter" where the ECU basically reduces the ignition timing and thus the RPM bounces. In M mode, the transmission won't shift until you do.

^ just to clear up things a little for the OP like Q8y_drifter said in M mode it wont shift until you do but the needle will keep bouncing off the redline it wont cross the redline though
i taken to 8k redline and it does bounce back car will start jerking weird and just stay at same level will not shift up by itself,
was too faded and was racing a TL on the 605 lol.. took him like nothing even after i f** up on the shifting ...

The fuel cut which is basically the "hard" limiter is set at 200rpm after the soft limiter from factory. You shouldnt be able to hit the fuel cut, as that is only there in case the soft limiter fails. Even though its not possible to hit the fuel cut on a stock tune, I wouldn't suggest anyone set the hard limiter at or before the soft limiter, since the fuel cut basically creates a very lean condition right at redline, which is not good for the engine.

Car usually goes up to 8K RPMS and if you don't shift on time. Car will give you a push back and rev like an angry Godzilla.

But like Q8y said its not a recommended thing to do ever, the dealer was just trying to convince me to buy the AT off the lot rather than order the MT showing me how the AT in M mode is just like the MT
and wont shift automatically
Get a stick.
1. Its a stick.period.
2. Will take horsepower better less drive train loss
3. Won't have nearly as many transmission problems as some of us had
4. Better mpg with stick
5. Did I say it was stick?
and when u hit red line it does cut the fuel supply letting the RPMS fall until its safe.
