Angry official WTF AWD thred

Hello all First time posting on this site ..... so ill get right to it. I have 2008 G35XS premium/sport/tech (tires not being the problem) ... but my problem is ,.... IS there any way to shut off that stuuuupid traction ctrl ????? I live in salt lake city and today I got stuck in mere slush twice in my drive way and twice and at the store.... is my AWD not working? cause as i understand it when I hit the snow button it locks the front diff to the rear till 12 ish mph so as not to get stuck right??? so what ha happened is the anti slip engaged preventing me from backing up / going forward.... is my G a POS??? ..... and yes i searched but did not find anything that answers my question

thanks

Should have a "VDC off" button to the lower right of the steering wheel (at least the RWDs do).
Good luck & welcome to the site!

Sorry men but I think the problem is you tires..... I live in Canada (plenty of snow) with snow mode on, no problems with getting stuck.... how do you know the tires are ok? are they snow tires?

I just bought an '08 35x for my wife a couple weeks ago. Its been snowing pretty good here for a few days now. With the tc on, that car is super sketchy on the snow and ice. To the point where my wife was questioning wether we should have gotten a different car. With it off, absoutly fine.

Snow tires make a big difference. I'd recommend keeping VDC on at high speeds. I used to drive a GS400 (RWD) and it saved my life a few times.

Is your driveway at a 20% grade? Are you trying to go through 16" of snow? If the answer is no then there might be something wrong with the system. I would get it checked if you can ever get out of your own driveway.

This is an excellent AWD system for a sport sedan. I drove my X through slush and 6" of snow without any trouble. There were times when I would go rip around in fresh deep 8" snow just for the fun of it.
Never ever needed to disable the VDC and never needed to utilize the Snow Mode either.

This car uses the ATTESA E-TS awd system. It's one of the more advanced system in the industry. Good enough to use on the $100,000+ Nissan GT-R. It sounds like there's something wrong with your specific car. Take it to a mechanic or dealership.

Just out of curiosity, but could u tell us the tread depth?

Oh and those of u who are not fans of TC, correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't TC only work when u see the VDC light up?

If your stuck in your driveway in not that deep of snow, your car is messed up. My RWD gets through snow just fine, let alone an AWD with snow tires.

Very easy to tell if your AwD works, just open your door, put the car in the snow, and GAS it,, my goodness, your should surely be able to tell if your front axle is engaging! and tires are spinning,, ( with VDC off of course)
