It seems like a disaster to me.

Wouldn't you lose a LOT of MPG and lower ground clearance?

Its not going to significantly decrease ground clearance or reduce your fuel economy. I typically dont drive around like this all winter, just add it when I know there will be snow. I dont have an X. Snow tires helped a lot but the rear end was still hard to control since the tires weren't biting well. I added some weight and was much more solid. For me the more weight I add the better, so I load that sucker up.

At risk of sounding cliche, I'll say that I made it through conditions where trucks and SUVs were getting stuck and had no issues with this combo. My bigger concern was others losing control and hitting me.

I've often wondered how the situation would go if I got caught in the snow without weight in the trunk.
Me: ----- Turn to wife in passenger seat----- "Honey, can you sit in the back seat to add some weight to the rear"
Wifey: "What are you saying, I'm fat!??" -------Repeated pinching and jabbing at me-------

We got 31.5 inches of snow here in Stoughton, ma. The only thing visible was my left mirror and some of the front of the hood. The snow had drifted from the front of my roof over a six foot high fence. After clearing the snow from the front of the car and shoveling to the drivers door, my wife (unfamiliar with the car) got in to move it. She spun the tires a bit, then I had her hit the "Snow" button. She then drove right out. If I woulda had a plow on this sucka, I coulda put the snowblower away.

BTW...this is the 1st time I've used the "Snow" button.

Mike

^ the snow button does help a lot with the initial start up with 50/50 awd and controlled throttle response but as stated before the 50/50 awd is only active up tp ~15mph after which the regular awd system tales over sending power to the wheels as needed

my X SUCKS in the snow...but part of it is my tires. Horrible in the snow. if i had the tires it would be different...but not having the tires makes my X feel like my old FWD car.

Hell i pull out of my street at 10 MPH and slip light goes on and you can feel it..again probably tires

Sand is cheapest, but if they've got a cat, some people use the big 42 lb. bags of cat litter.

Italians use two soldiers or one lieutenant (lieutenants are usually heavier) from a rival family but really need to empty the trunk before springtime.

Mike

ps...I'm Italian
