Gas smell in cabin

Hey guys,

I have been having this issue ever since to cold weather set in here in NY. Whenever i come to a stop in the car i have had this fairly strong smell of gas. Havent had much time to look into it, but was hoping that someone can point me in a good direction to start. I was also thinking that there is a possibility that since the air is denser the cars computer is therefore giving more gas to meet the proper air/fuel ratio. Again, if anyone can give some advice or has had the same problem, any help will be much obliged.

Pull your rear seat bottom out and look, the tank is right under the seat. It will take all of 5 mins to confirm if you have a leak.

Could also be an exhaust leak, that would smell like gas especially if it was before the cat. My moms Highlander had this problem and the exhaust had a few holes before the cat.

Look at the access panel on the top of the tank where the lines go in, rubber seal may be leaking. You might want to drive it without the seat in to see if it's worse.

You'd think he would hear an exhaust leak, but maybe.

I will deffinitely try that and check everything with the tank. As far as an exhaust leak, i am not positive but it does make a hissing type noise when changing gears and is minimally louder but i do not have any codes or anything leading to exhaust leak. Will give the exhaust a once over tho.

The one on the Highlander did not make noise at first, but yes if is an exhaust leak it will eventually get worse and make noise.
