Goodbye G35S!!!
After almost 6 years and 50K miles, traded in my 2007 G35S with 6MT. Great car--never gave me any mechanic issues. Ended up with a used 2009 BMW 550i to go with my weekend S2K. Will miss the Nav and backup camera. The BMW iDrive is as not intuitive as everyone says.
Still have my OEM 18" rims and tires, so will take some pictures and put those up for sale later.

Congrats man! I was considering trading my '08x for a BMW 335i Xdrive, but I'm covered on the extended warranty for another 50k miles, and I just love the G35. Enjoy the new car and post pics

Thanks folks. I miss the intimacy of the G35, but ever since I got the S2000 as my weekend car, the G became more expandable. The 550i is a pleasure to drive. It is my first V8 and I just love the flexibility of the torque curve. For a heavy car, it does not switch directions as well as the S2000, but once in the curve, it holds pretty well.
The G35 is much more visceral--I hear the engine sound and the tire noise and can feel every bump and hear every creak. The 550 is more insulated.
Will take some pictures and post them later. Been snowing around here so have not had a proper wash/wax. Thanks!

Well the 550 does feel more alive and fun to drive. I get to drive it every now and then and the power it puts out is great. But the reliable part is not so fun and glad its not my car but i get to drive it at least once a month for about 5 miles.
550i is probably one of the more reliable vehicles BMW has made. You go autotrader these things and there are a lot with 100k+. Didn't get a warranty on my dad's new 07. *knock on wood* No problems yet.
You won't miss the Nav.
I used to be one of those "Gimme a car with Navi" guys until I started using my Iphone or windshield garmin more. It was just easier to speak to my iphone and put it in the cup holder.
Plus for $100...i can get a new updated GPS with free traffic and updates. A new updated map CD each year costs more than that now.
I barely use the one in my G35x now, and the only reason the Benz has it is because my girl wanted it. Other than that...i'll save the expense on my own next car.

So far have not missed Nav, but I am terrible with directions. The iPhone 5 is much better as a portable device, but nothing compares to the factory fit/finish GPS. I tried using iPhone 5 in my S2000, but it is so loud I cannot hear anything haha!
Regarding reliability, apparently the 4.8 liter engine is more reliable than the 535 twin turbo. But keeping my fingers crossed!

Is your 550 stick? Hard to tell with BMW's auto shifter looking similar to a manual.
G/L with the bimmer.
Question, I have the same spec G you had, I have 50k and I live in MD, what was your trade in value? Interstingly you made the exact upgrade I have been wanting to make, I was going to test the 535 6mt to see if it has enough power before checking out the V8.
