If it were a complete fluid change that was being performed then I would agree with you, and I do not know whether or not that is actually what the Premium schedule calls for, but if it's just a partial fluid 'refresh' that's being done, it's not that extreme.

I would agree 30k is probably overkill, but they can just look at it and see if it needs to be done. However, by 100k it is most likely going to be completely shot so I would not wait that long. I changed the radiator on my dads car the other day, 100k miles, and the radiator fluid that came out looked like hot chocolate...needless to say I will now ask to have mine changed at the next oil change lol.

I have surpassed 100k as well..

My clutch makes this horrible grinding noise when shifting.
It's really bad when starting the car, but isn't as noticeable after it's been driven for a couple minutes. When i push the clutch in it makes this clutter noise similar to a blender. It stops to do it when I put it in 5th at a stand still. Anyone know what this could be? I have replaced my fluids recently.

Also, my car makes this clunk noise when going slowly over bumps or turning. Seems to come from the front left. I got my Bushings replaced. I think i found the problem awhile back but forget what it was called.

Be careful

If you haven't changed your tranny fluid in a long time and flush the system you take the risk of the transmission slipping. I've done it twice. Take it to someone that warranties their work so if it breaks it's on them

That's really not an issue anymore due to better detergents in automatics, happened a lot back in the days of the carburetor however and the old stigma persists.

Anything newer than DEX III won't have the coagulation issues from age/heat, I think the G recommends Matic-S which DEFINITELY wouldn't have that problem. Only way it could be a problem is if someone got a flush done and replaced the factory fluid with something like ATF+2 or lessor, or DEX III and just ran the bejesus out of it for like 150k miles between interval.

The dealership price on a tranny flush is only about $80 and you know it's getting done properly so...

It really wasn't a stigma. It happened. It was just a heads up type of thing. But it was real life and it wasn't a carburetor motor and it was dextron 3. But good luck with not doing it on a regular basis. Trust the detergents bro

No I absolutely recommend changing fluids at recommended intervals but it's SUPER rare to have any transmission related issues due to a flush on modern vehicles. Sediment and deposits can still happen if the interval is just flat out ignored for hundreds of thousands of miles OR in applications where heat is an issue (track or tow) but the detergents are so much stronger and the breakdown from heat is so much less (modern efficient design and TCM's built to protect against overheat) that valve body clogging is very much a thing of the past. The only real issue I see nowadays from ignoring the maintenance intervals is erosion of the valve body and torque converters due to high speed/pressure contaminants slowly removing material at various different points that have high hydraulic thrust.

EDIT: Just saw you said it was DEX III, yes that's old technology and definitely shouldn't be used in a G transmission, or any modern transmission unless recommended by the manufacturer, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't recommended in anything newer than 15 years old so...

So what are your thoughts on a low mileage (now 30K) eleven year old 2006 5AT just bought in March. My thinking was drain and fill just due to age of fluids; dealer service records show only recommended service at mileage intervals, not time. You would do a flush?

I would replace every single fluid in the vehicle. Everything breaks down due to age.

That's what I thought too and that's what I did.

Other than fluids. hardware I would say maybe spark plugs and thermostat! I'm not sure what the interval for spark plugs are but it is an relatively easy job and I got mine replaced at about 75k miles. Thermostat I say you should replace it because mine just crapped out 96k miles :/ I just pulled it out today and it was indeed the thermostat failing closed causing over heating issues.
