Future G35 owner... pointers/advice?

Hey guys, I currently have an 02 maxima se 6mt but I'll be selling that at some point in the future to get a G35s. Just looking for tips ahead of time like what I should look for.

From what I'm reading on the site so far these cars are a little more technical than my max is so I thought I'd just ask outright. With everything you know now is there anything specific you'd look for if you had to buy your G all over again?

I have an iPhone 5 and if it's at all possible (through modding or w/e means) I'd like to be able to stream ipod and pandora to the radio as well as video. I've read they dont have a kit to install an aftermarket radio on 07-08 g35 sedans yet... but that thread is a few years old too so idk.

I found the thread on the KP Technologies stuff too so I know about that.

I'm really posting this because if I had to buy my max all over again there's a ton of stuff I would've looked for differently, like finding a model with HLSD and getting an 03 instead of 02 for maf sensor issues, so any help I can get from you guys ahead of time would be awesome.

I already know it'll be an 07-08 sedan 6mt, black, probably w/ navi. The rest will come... I don't mind waiting or traveling for the right one.DOMO <---- and this guys cool looking lol.

If I could do it over again, I'd get the tech package with rearview camera. You can't see diddly when you just look back! Other than that, I love my car. I did have the steering rack replaced under warranty and I know others have leaking racks--I would turn the wheel back and forth at a standstill to make sure you don't hear any popping and it is smooth. I do like the Navi, but really for the compact flash card reader. The music box hard drive is a huge disappointment because it will only rip audio cds to it.

Just like the Maxima, 6MTs will be hard to come by though. 2007 6MTs had a slave cylinder recall--make sure it was done.

If he gets the 2008 models, the backup camera is included with the navigation package.

If I was to travel back in time to 2008, I would definitely buy my G35S again.

This may not be the ideal setup, but you can buy a cheap bluetooth dongle with stereo out in which you can plug it into the RCA inputs in the Arm Rest. This way, you can stream your music from your iPhone to the car. Not the BEST idea but it'll work...

Every keen buyer and motor enthusiasts looks at models of cars like shares in the stock market. What potential does it have in the long run. Although there are plenty of examples of nissan cars that have tremendous potential me being a G owner and a car enthusiast have come to realize that this particular model cost to value is moderate at best. For the money or less you can get a car that will fullfill all your requirements. Honestly even the 370z is bearable with moderate mods. In many car journalist just consider it the 6/10 or 7/10 car which means when you really push this chassis it doesnt cope well. To each his own but I assure you if you do your research you will eventually come to this conclusion as well. In any case good luck

There are several mods to improve the clutch feel, ranging removing the helper spring and adding a stack of nickels to the very nice RJM adjustable clutch bracket.

I wish I would had purchased an 08 instead of my 07 simply for the iPod hook up. Would had been nice to had The tech package. Overall I'm happy with the car, just miss the gas mileage of my old car lol

So for what I'm lookin for the 08 w/navi is the one I want then it looks like. The 07 doesn't have iPod input?

Also there's no way I could get a 350/370z or even a G coupe, I use my back seat a lot in the max now and I couldn't see any way I could ever go without it so I'm definitely going with the sedan, I'm more looking for a car to play with for the next 5-10 years than something to invest in.

I do plan on doing intake/exhaust/tune as well, I read the spacers are good too so ill have to look into that.

Thanks for the idea about the Bluetooth also, I was searching around and I heard the Infiniti iPod cable sucks but I guess I'll have to hear it. I was really hoping to be able to get some netflix/youtube on the screen like in my max (I have an avic-z130bt), I'm sure someone will figure out a way and I just gotta find the thread on it lol.

Any Recalls/TSB's on the 08 I should look out for? And thanks for the steering rack tip ill definitely look out for that.

As far as availability yea I see that lol, the closest one right now to me on cars.com is in MA, I'm in ny which I don't mind the trip but it doesn't have navi. So ill wait lol.

I like how in the 2007 models, the mirrors have the compass even if you had the navigation package. I believe in 2008 models, you lose that compass in the mirror when you have the navigation package.

Also, iPod hookup isn't really necessary. There is Aux connector in the 2007 where you can play music, and you can always use a usb charger from the cigarette port. The Bose Driver's Audio is really terrible. I always turn it off whenever I get into a loaner, because it sounds odd.

Overall, I think the 2007 is actually better in some aspects than the 2008 models (the compass in mirror does come in handy,) with the exception of the rear view monitor in the navigation package for the 2008 models. I have the tech package, so it doesn't matter.

Does the 2008 models come with the 6 CD changer? They got rid of that in the 2009 models.

^ What's the point of this? They already make adapters to go into RCA cables for video and audio without going through this...this is a way more expensive and worse alternative, and probably lose a lot more video quality too.

Amazon Amazon

This might be what you're looking for,,,just get the 30pin lightning adapter.

Still, it's kind of stupid. You can't even have video playing on the screen unless your parking/ebrake is on while the car isn't moving. Nowadays, with bigger and higher quality LCDs on Smartphones, I would much rather watch it on my 5" Droid DNA with 1080p screen than on the silly low res screen in my G while hooking the sound up to the car.

The RCA audio cables will work while the car is in motion, but the yellow RCA video cable will not. Not very useful, and not very practical either to have video in the car.

30 pin lightning adapter doesn't carry video, I already have one, and there arent any other options to carry video from an iphone5 that i know if. I have video in my max now through the adapter above and love it. If I'm in my car and I have the choice id absolutely prefer the 7" monitor to your 5" android or even my iphone. Not everyone will have a use for this but I do. Most netflix/youtube content is nowhere near 1080p anyway. I have no comment as to the rest, not looking to get this thread locked.

There's no guarantee it will work, since you're going through a lot of "adapters" that lose the signal quality as you're using it. The ratings for those cables are fairly low, so there may be a problem while converting the signal.

As for Netflix/Youtube content not near 1080p, I beg to differ. Almost all the Youtube Videos are now streamed in 1080p. I believe Netflix is still using 720p, but that will definitely change in the near future. I don't know if you've ever seen the screen on the G, but it is extremely low resolution (480 x 234) If you don't care then that's fine.

But anyways, this AUX connector is only included with sedans with the navigation package. Your problems may be solved by just hardwiring an iPad into your car. =) I believe some manufacturers are already doing that.
