Cool Potential G35s Owner!

Hey Guys,

New on the forum, from Vancouver, BC. Currently looking at an 07' G35S Sedan, thinking hard if its worth the buy.. White on black with 121,000 KM (about 75,000 Miles) for $14,000. Has the nav, rear view cam, along with all the other things the sport package has. Just wanted to get an opinion from you guys and/or things to look out for in this model. Look forward to becoming a part of the community, thanks for any input!

Welcome to the forum! I just bought a 2007 G35S with nav, tech package, and premium package with 62k miles about two weeks ago. It's a great car and I love it (I came from a 2007 350Z). Search for the common problems for these cars and see if the one your looking at has these common problems and if you can live with them/fix them. Here is three of common problems I have on mine:

-Wind noise coming from weather stripping (ITB07-034a)
-outside door chrome rubber becoming sticky/going bad
-steering wheel trim paint rubbing off (ITB12-050)

Also another setback I see is that both the 2007 G35 and 350Z share the same engine but with the Z I got ~26mpg doing 80mph and on the G I get ~23mpg doing 80mph. Overall I love the G over the Z and I believe it's a great car! And for the price your getting, I would say it's a good deal.

How can you even compare a full sedan with a sporty coupe? Besides, your Z was probably close to 300lbs lighter than the G. I don't know how the CoD compares between them either, but it may be a factor as well.

I can get 26-27 with my 6MT while cruising at 80 if I am ever so gentle, but it is much easier to obtain that mpg at a slower speed (ie. 65-70).

Bottom line is that the G really isn't built for maximum mpg. If that's what you really value, then you may have bought the wrong car.

Hey a-Sarkar, welcome to the forums.

I personally bought a '07 G35S w/ Nav & Tech back in September with about 97,000kms.

From what i can tell by searching up craigslist, it seems you're looking at a car thats being posted several times by probably someone on the side working on behalf of a used car dealer or a curb sider since some images and especially the descriptions seem similar in that they state the same mileage AND both state that it is chipped however the titles do remain different.

Also because it is chipped, i would be a bit concerned with how the previous owner came about it and how it affects the overall reliability if it wasn't done properly.

And because of it being posted by someone who may not be very credible and not privately as some of those similar ads suggest, i'd be wary of the history of the vehicle such as accidents and such unless the carproof says otherwise. And as the asking price seems to be a bit suspicious (asking usually range between 16k to 18k for that mileage regardless of package). So i'd be very careful with this one and really make sure this is a clean vehicle.

Anyways good luck with your search and hopefully your search turns out well.

I am not aware or any legitimate performance chips for these cars. I'd be VERY wary if it lists there being one.

Thanks for the inputs! Yes I will definitely look into the "chip" and see what exactly they did. I will most likely have a mechanic with me to do a thorough check on the vehicle and for sure will get a carfax on it if everything else checks out. Will keep you guys posted, ad thanks for the replies again!

Sorry not complaining about the gas mileage... Just comparing the G to the same year model Z that I've owned. Just giving the OP what I came from and how I'm liking my G.

26 mpg is do-able with 65 mph,

definitely closer to 23 mpg when doing 80 mph.

that's freeway alone, mixed driving usually gets me about 21-22 mpg, 18-19mpg if i am on a hurry more often

I can't complain too much about the mpg on the G, since I can't really strap a child seat in the back of a Z ... LOL
