The first question you have to answer for youself is how much you are willing to spend. A brand new install will be around $15K depending on what options you want.

I had a GTM TT in mine and it turned out great with absolutely no issues. The remains of my old car are up for insurance auction if you are serious:

You are correct. The DE motor benefitted from a spacer. The HR motor doesn't need one.

Unless someone messed with it, it was in perfect running and tuned condition when I gave it to the insurance company. It's literally a matter of pulling the complete motor, transmission and engine management and tranferring it into another car. This is a much cheaper option than a full install and tune.

Contact GTM and see how much they would charge you for the transplant. Sam can also give you the pros and cons of such a project. They installed it the first time so they will have the first hand knowledge.

Don't waist money on the chip. If you get the bolt ons exhaust, light weight pulley, HFC (driveshaft (is what i am working on)) then you get the TT you will have some pretty awesome numbers.

I hate to break the news to you, but there is no "affordable" or "conventional" way to add any SUBSTANTIAL amount of power to the HR motors. The factory has left relatively little on the table for easy pickings. What little you can pick up (short of FI), is always at a fairly poor return on investment if you look at actual $$ per HP, and as noted before, going the full FI route is painfully expensive, but at least you can get substantial gains.

Forced induction is very expensive so you really have to know what you are getting yourself into because you are essentially putting the price of another used car into your engine bay. And especially so if this is your daily driver.

As for getting additional power NA (normally aspirated), there is not much you can because the motor is well optimized by design. You can gain 5-10 WHp here and there, but you may as well lighten your car for similar outcomes.

Or you can just buy terry's old car for $3550 and pull it off the car and put it on yours and you got yourself a steal. You can sell the car to the junk yard and might get more then 1/2 your money back.
