Hit curb, now all warning lights are on.

I was having to much fun on the side roads today trying to beat traffic on the highway. Snowpacked and icy. I bucked into a curb with my right rear wheel. It bounced me back in the street and I kept on my merry way. Got some rash on the wheel but nothing else. Until...... I got back in my car an hour later and the vdc, brake, awd and slip are staying on. Any ideas? I am off to the dealership now to get some of my 90k done and I will have them check it out. I will let you guys know what happens if your curious.

I'm guessing a wheel speed sensor.

lol it was both. Neither had to do with the curb bump this morning. I have had to fill the brake fluid before so I guess I should have checked that. The speed sensor they said was 280 installed of course. I will probably buy one online and have discount tire replace it with my next set of tires. I love my the local dealer though. It is only 510 for the tranny and coolant flush. Plus if I pay cash I usually get it kicked 10% off. Which puts it pretty closely priced to local shops but I get a nice loaner for a day or two. Thanks for the input.

$510 for tranny and coolant flush?!

Wow that's so expensive! Mine only charges $160 for the tranny fluid.

I thought the tranny fluid alone cost that much?

It depends. Nissan does not recommend tranny flushes, only drain and fill. There was a bulletin by Nissan released on how tranny flushes can actually damage your transmission. Tranny fluid is like $8-$9 a quart so 12 quarts is only $108.

As for coolant flushes, most local mechanics only charge $60 for the service.

Hmm, that's odd that it would be both, and even more so that it had nothing to do with the curb bump. I can see the coincidence of being low of fluid and hitting a curb and then the lights happen to come on the next time, but the wheel sensor is not something that typically just fails for no reason. Also, if it is bad, then the fault would most likely not clear and you'd still have the whole light show going off on the dash.

Did the dealership essentially fix the problem with the 'light show' by just topping off the brake fluid, but then tell you you need to replace a sensor as well? Was it even on the same wheel that hit the curb? I guess it is possible for a sensor to be marginal while still 'working', but I start to get nervous when dealers 'find' something I need to replace when it apparently still working.

First off nissan does recommend drain and fill as long as you do it on correct ~30k intervals but if you have longer intervals and a flush is required then they recommend flushing using ONLY the 'special nissan approved machines only found at infiniti/nissan stealerships' ...

Now if they did in fact flush then its always >12qts to flush everything out depending on the machine/method used by dealer and around $12/qt at the dealer you are looking at ~$160 just for the fluid and stealership also like to charge around $40-50 just for the nissan coolant with that said they charged you around $300 labor which is not bad by dealership standards but like some said it would be MUCH cheaper if you get it done at a reputable 3rd party shop.

I can't believe it. I had the same thing happened to me a year ago in the snow at a narrow street in a residential area. It was partly due to the shitty 3-season Eagle RS-A tires that came with the car (the prev. owner didn't replace it).

The G got tail happy and drifted, hit the curb same as you do and tilted my drivers side rear wheel so that it toed inwards (surprisingly the stock 17" rims suffered a nasty rash but it wasn't bent). All 3 lights went on immediately (VDC, SLIP, AWD). I had to drive it home with the steering wheel turned to the left in order to make the car keep going straight, you can imagine how difficult it is in the snowy condition.

Towed it to my indy shop, told me either replace the bent aluminum control arm, or best possible solution is to replace the whole suspension system (strut, spring, arms, everything) from a salvaged donor because the alignment was off and there is no way to see that the rest is damaged.

Cost? $1400 which includes a 4-wheel alignment. At least I got a newer driver side rear suspension :P

She drives better than new, as if nothing happened!
