Dexron is usually cherry red, did 3 exchanges following the DIY on this site and a $4 siphon pump (turkey baster would not fit). I drove around for 5 minutes after each exchange turning the wheel lock to lock and back and forth in a dead end/traffic triangle. Castrol Transmax Dexron VI (compatible with all Dexrons) was $6 at the auto parts store.

You can buy the air filters anywhere, and they are easy to change. Engine filters are a no brainer (except for my dealer employees apparently), and the cabin air filter is pretty easy too. http://www.carcarekiosk.com/video/20..._cabin/replace
Thank you for the link. Looks like a simple job so I will be tackling the engine and cabin air filter myself. From what I am getting so far, it seems like I should just go with OEM fluids from the dealership? Are the prices for the fluids they have there overpriced. Would you rather just go to a local auto parts store and get an equivalent type fluid?

WOW, could you please elaborate further to substantiate this assertion?

Thats what is called for by Nissan, says so right on the lid for the power steering reservoir, confirmed by my dealer as well when they told me to top it off because the rack has a slow leak (out of warranty). Also see the DIY from this site: https://g35driver.com/forums/v36-diy...id-change.html

hmm I got curious and the manual says use only Nissan Genuine PSF or equivalent. I am not sure if there is a standard spec for generic PSF like there is for Dexron ATF, or the Nissan Genuine PSF. It is all hydraulic fluid...maybe the Nissan Genuine is just Dexron in a Nissan bottle. Anyways, you can be positive that Dexron ATF is considered "equivalent" of Nissan Genuine PSF, not sure if you can be as sure with something else. I know some cars can be sensitive to the differences in generic power steering fluids (Honda comes to mind).

Exactly. The Owner Manual actually calls for use of power steering fluid, albeit of the Nissan brand (which is to be expected), but they do offer the use of an "equivalent" power sterring fluid, HOWEVER, nowhere do they actually give a spec for what that power steering fluid must be. Now, there is an asterisk in the manual which suggests that, in Canada, you may use Dextron III ATF (so I would assume that should work in the states as well), but the documentation is surprisingly left vague in that regard for the rest of the world. Whenever I have pressed the dealership for anything in writing on the subject, they have come up short. All they can offer is their 'opinion'.

In general, I think this is all splitting hairs, and I would agree with your asertion that it's all just hydraulic fluid, but I never saw anything to support your previous assertion that "You can not use power steering fluid in these cars".
