Want to drain/flush all fluids and other services

Hello Everyone,

I want to preface this post by saying that I changed the oil on the car yesterday and am quite proud of myself .

My car is hitting 70K miles pretty soon. I have looked over the service records from the original owner and he has done a great job keeping up with the services. But being OCD that I am, I want to go ahead and change out all the fluids in the car and some other stuff so I know the car is running optimally. But I need a lot of help and advice, please. I will have my mechanic do all the work for me.

I want to bleed my brakes and clutch fluid, change out the power steering fluid, rear differential and transmission fluids. Here are the items I am thinking of picking up from Amazon, so please tell me if these are the correct type or if any of you have any other suggestions.

ATE 706302 Original Super Blue Racing DOT 4 Brake Fluid - 1 Liter : Amazon.com : Automotive ATE 706302 Original Super Blue Racing DOT 4 Brake Fluid - 1 Liter : Amazon.com : Automotive
. Can I use that for my brakes and clutch? And exactly how much of it do I need for a full flush of both?

Red Line 50504 MT-85 75W-85 GL-4 Gear Oil - 1 Quart : Amazon.com : Automotive Red Line 50504 MT-85 75W-85 GL-4 Gear Oil - 1 Quart : Amazon.com : Automotive
. Can I use that for the rear differential and manual transmission flush?

Royal Purple 01326 Max EZ High Performance Synthetic Power Steering Fluid - 12 oz. : Amazon.com : Automotive Royal Purple 01326 Max EZ High Performance Synthetic Power Steering Fluid - 12 oz. : Amazon.com : Automotive
. Can I use that for the power steering?

I also want to change out the drive belt, spark plugs, intake filter and cabin filter. Can I buy these parts from a local auto parts store or will I have to purchase them from the dealership? Can all of these be done by my mechanic or is there something in the mix that I will have to bring to the dealership, such as the transmission flush?

I know this is a lot of newb questions but I have looked through the owners manual and I have looked at some of the posts from the tech threads. Your help, advice and suggestions would greatly be appreciated.

Thank you

Owner's Manual shows plug change not due until 105K miles, and you DO NOT use a GL-4 rated lube in the diff.

Excuse my ignorance, but what do you mean by plug change?

I know the manual states when something should be service, and I know going longer than the specified time would mean you could be dealing with faulty parts. But I don't see the problem with just getting whatever I can serviced before the indicated interval so I will have a peace of mind. That and I can know for sure when I will need to change out the same part down the road.

Maybe it's naive, but I expect the HR motor will be different than the earlier VQ's.

If the previous owner did the 60K mile service it would be stupid and a waste of $$ to change fluids after only 10K miles!

No, not to my experience anyway. I don't add a drop between 7.5K changes.

You can not use power steering fluid in these cars, you need to use Dexron type Automatic Transmission Fluid. I changed mine yesterday, I have about 70k, no difference in feel but the stuff I took out was light brown/yellowish. Dexron is usually cherry red, did 3 exchanges following the DIY on this site and a $4 siphon pump (turkey baster would not fit). I drove around for 5 minutes after each exchange turning the wheel lock to lock and back and forth in a dead end/traffic triangle. Castrol Transmax Dexron VI (compatible with all Dexrons) was $6 at the auto parts store.

You can buy the air filters anywhere, and they are easy to change. Engine filters are a no brainer (except for my dealer employees apparently), and the cabin air filter is pretty easy too. http://www.carcarekiosk.com/video/20..._cabin/replace
