2008 G35 Sedan

Hello,

I just recently purchased a used 2008 G35 Journey edition and so far really like it. I have searched the forums but didn't exactly find the answer to my question. The G35 I purchased does not have fog lights and it has a one solid piece that covers the area with the lights would go. My question is:

Can I purchase and install a set of fog lights? On my turn signal stem it appears to have the switch to turn these lights on. Like I say. Can I purchase these fog light and does it already have the wiring in place to power them?

If someone know and could provide details about what is needed and how the install would go I would very much appreciate it.

Thanks...

Regards,

Tom

Welcome to G35Driver,

It can be confusing but the 07-09 V36 models have the fog lights integrated into the headlight housing, which is also the G35's DRL.

Hope that helps!

Tim....thanks for the quick reply. I am not sure I fully understand what you said. In the lower part of the front bumper on each side it has a one piece cover of some sort. When you look at the covers closely it almost looks like a piece of wicker furniture type style. I know it is not wicker but it has that look to it.

Thanks...

Tom

They serve no purpose. As mentioned, Infiniti integrated (put) the foglights into the headlight housing below the turn signals. They did not design for foglights to be put into the front bumper, as they packaged it in such a way that foglights will not fit in the areas where one would think foglights would belong.

Only the facelifted 10-13 models were designed with foglights in mind, as they had to redesign the windshield washer fluid container to accommodate for it.

Don't waist money on that. Do something cooler like LED lights instead

Tom,

1) Your car does indeed have foglights already, they are just located within the headlamp assy. (and are worthless).
2) Yes, you can, but it's a totally custom retrofit to do so.
3) No, you have to tap into and supplement the existing wiring to control them.

See the threads linked above for some examples from those who've done it, or search for some more; there a a handful of them out there.

Thanks for all the replies and info provided. I guess after looking at the front bumper it gave me the impression that the fog lights may not be a big deal. I found out though. Thanks again for the info. I will reconsider the fog lights now.

2 related points : #1 don't get an aftermarket HID kit for the stock fogs. The reflector scatters the light, and will simply blind all oncoming drivers.

#2 I have the Philips luxeon DRL kit in my (sport) bumper where the fogs would go. Its a much simpler install, and they serve a greater purpose than fogs - IMHO - in a car with pretty solid stock hid low beams.

Photo? How difficult is the install?

aktif8....thanks for that info. In my situation, is it worth it? To me, if it were as easy as taking those blank plastic pieces off the bumper and replacing it with a piece with the fog light in it, it may be worth it. Correct me if I am wrong but is a time consuming and costly thing to try and do? Thanks...
