I've been having stalling issues with my car where when I hit the gas the car would hesitate and would shut off. I took it to the dealer and this is what they came back with.
Recomend replacing rear timing cover due t low oil pressure and all gaskets (checked il pressure and found oil pressure low.) $3,744.68
What do you all think?????

O_O
How bad was the hesitate and stall? Did they look at anything else (MAP sensor, etc) before giving you that estimate?

They said they did and that the problem was that the oil pressure was at 12ppsi and it should be over 14ppsi.

take it somwhere else, sounds like an air intake or fuel issue, the stealership is trying to get you man

if you have low oil pressure you will get cam shaft position sensor errors because they run on oil pressure. the cams won't be able to adjust at different RPMs. change the oil filter and go to a different shop

If you have low oil pressure, you may or may not have restricted/plugged oil galleries. Rather than clean them out the Stealership would rather sell you a new cover. Definitely go get a second opinion, then get an oil change and try a heaver weight oil.

This person had a similar problem to your with hesitation, not stalling, and they replaced the seals on the rear timing cover: http://x.infinitihelp.com/forum/show...asi-10652.html
He says ~13 hours of labor, so 1430 @$110 per hour. If it really costs 3750 just to replace the covers I cringe to think what it would cost for someone needing to replace the chain and chain tensioners if they were to wear out on a high mileage car...

Do not repair the vehicle at the dealer unless you really want to over pay. Take it to a Indy mechanic that does work on Nissan, Infiniti, Honda, Toyota.

goooooood lawwwwwd... 3 grand... man.. 60% of that is probably just labor (the mechanic walking around the car and drinking coffee). Go to another shop

Any update?
IPP will sell you a rebuilt shortblock for $2600.
Take a look
I would not spend over 3 grand to replace a rear timing cover.
