Rack and pinion???REBUILD???

Is it possible to re build a rack and pinion with a seal kit , the problem im running into is that my rack and pinion is leaking from both sides when i turn my steering wheel left if leaks from the right when i turn my steering wheel to the right it leaks from the left Im assuming it is the rack and pinion cause the piston moves in the rack ad pinion it pushes fluid to the opposite side... i have exprenece re-building shocks, brakes, brake levers and ect things that do with seals c-clips and o-rings ...... has anyone re build a rack and pinion and any success????

if you have and ideas anything that would help let me know

Thnksss!!

I doubt Infiniti will sell you the internal rack rebuild parts, as they most likely only deal with a complete assembly. You might try a good aftermarket auto parts source for them, or you could try checking with a local hydraulic shop. They rebuild all kinds of odd-ball stuff all the time, so they may have (or know where to get) the particular seals, clips, etc The only trouble is, they will most likely not know until it's opened up and they see what it needs. Have you tried/considered sourcing a used one from an auto salvage yard?

Sounds good. Maybe you could snap a few pics as you go and post a little DIY for anyone that may follow in your footsteps.

If it's not to much work can you take a few pictures, I have some rack and pinion issues too and wouldn't mind some extra info.
