Hit a Huge Rock & Tire Blew Out
Hit a Huge Rock & Tire Blew Out
i have all kinds of lights on now after having put on a donut.
vdc, slip, abs are all on
just wondering if this is normal or if i should be worried.
seems like something is going on with my brakes too. if i slam on them they feel horrible.
feels like bad grinding.
i dont see how the brakes could have gotten affected by the rock.

If you hit a rock with a tire, all associated components around that area could be damaged. It doesn't happen all the time, but it does happen.
Your brake lines could be severed, the rotor could be damaged, the abs line could be ripped out of the socket, etc. Your brake fluid may be leaking...
You should get it checked at a mechanic to make sure.
Also, since this happened after you put the donut on, you might have put it on the wrong way. Can you take it off and put it back on and make sure nothing was caught in between? The bad grinding noise could be the ABS functioning even though your tire has traction, which means your ABS may have an issue.

Last week I hit some road debris on the highway after looking over my shoulder. Ended up with a dent on oem factory 17" and a blown sidewall. I put my doughnut on and drove on it for at least 3 days maybe 80 - 100 miles without any issue.
On a side note, I ended replacing the single tire with the same make mode and tread depth however different speed rating. I know it isn't recommended but I haven't noticed any unusual noises, dash lights, or anomalies.
