Just saw this on 3M's website. If you do end up taking your own car this looks like it'll be the easiest way to protect it. Apparently it's like clear plastidip, reviews on it are 50/50 tho.

Since your G is well maintained and in good condition why wouldn't you take her for a drive? Tape or spray your front end and enjoy the trip...Gary

i would just rent a car. I've taken my G to Tucson AZ, and Vegas numerous times and getting the front of the car (bumper & hood) chipped by rocks is not worth it.
