2007 G35 Sedan Door Weather Stripping (w/ pics)
Hey all.
So I have heard from some other threads on here that people are experiencing the same shitty Nissan weather stripping as I have.
When the temperature outside gets above 70 degrees, the outer layer of my doors weather stripping becomes tacky and frequently peels off (see pics).
What I am wondering is, would it matter if I peeled all of this off?
I mean, I assume it serves a purpose, but all of my doors have a similar look and I don't think water has ever gotten in.
Does anyone know if there is a fix for this or has anyone had this repaired professionally?
What would happen if this stripping was removed altogether?
Any input is appreciated.

The strip is there to prevent water and too much humidity to build up.
You have a window motor and regulator in there that you don't want to get damaged.
If you take apart the door you probably will be able to remove the weather strip easily but you would need a replacement off another g35/37 sedan, try a junk yard?
I personally would not go through the trouble if thats all the damage.
Btw if your waxing or adding product to your car (besides car soap obviously) avoid getting it on vinyl or rubber it drys and can cause it to crack.

Would it be worth putting a little bit of window sealant in there, or is there a method to replace the entire weather strip?
